Ginger is definitely a hoot in 42nd street. The feel good musicals of the 30's are a rare breed.

I am definitely on the outside on this one. I can't stand Girl Crazy. I have tried, many times, to watch it and enjoy it. I just can't.
Ginger in Gold Diggers is just more proof for those scoffers who believe that Fred made her career that Ginger was a bigger star than him when they were paired in Flying Down to Rio. She was great before and after him, in both comedy and drama.
I have the Berkeley set on order and can't wait to get it. More VHS copies will be donated to Goodwill shortly!

Honestly, I think it may have something to do with Mickey Rooney. I can barely tolerate his teenage performances. I've seen his silent kiddie comedies...ok, not too bad. Then, I saw him in some movies like the one about the war issues in a small town...Human Comedy maybe? Loved him in it. Love him when he was in movies as a kid...6-10 years old. Plenty of great, honest performances.
But when he started in with the Judy/Mickey movies, and the Judge Hardy series....I can't stomach him. Ham acting at an extreme.

God, this sounds like something I need to have.
I can see myself wrapped up in these DVD's on a rainy Saturday afternoon with a big bowl of strawberries and cream. *sigh*
