President Bush, 11/7/05:
"We do not torture."
Associated Press, 4/11/08:
"The officials also took care to insulate President Bush from a series of meetings where CIA interrogation methods, including waterboarding, which simulates drowning, were discussed and ultimately approved."
ABC News, 4/11/08:
"President Bush says he knew his top national security advisors discussed and approved specific details about how high-value al Qaeda suspects would be interrogated by the Central Intelligence Agency....'Well, we started to connect the dots, in order to protect the American people. And, yes, I'm aware our national security team met on this issue. And I approved.'"
Here's the ABC News article.
Bush Aware of Advisers' Interrogation Talks
Why hasn't he been indicted for this already? Why?
Torture is torture, and we are a nation that vows not to practice it. We are also a member of the United Nations. If need be, I will pull up their International Declaration of Human Rights, CLEARLY STATING that torture will not be upheld.
There has got to be repercussions for this action.
General question...what's keeping him from impeachment? He's lost a lot of allies.
"what's keeping him from impeachment? "
Ask people like Nancy Pelosi (whose obviously being blackmailed) or Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. None support impeachment. All should considering how important an impeachment is to our standing in the world.
"I'm George Bush and I approved this torture."
What are future generations going to say about this one? "Why didn't anyone DO anything?"
Even if it happens after he leaves office, he needs to be impeached. Sorry to sound melodramatic, but really, its for the good of the country. We don't do this sh*t in America.
If someone were to kidnap Bush, I would hope they wouldn't kill him, but rather administer a truth serum and televise an interrogation. Then release him to the streets without killing him.
Another reason to get a Democratic Administration (as if we need another) - to get to the truth about what Bush et al. did, and not provide pardons for illegal activity.
there will be no investigations.
Papa, if we get the WH and a few more seats, I think that there may be. Then again, if a Democrat wins, there will be shredding like there is no tomorrow.
If the Dems are really interested in pursing an investigation, they need to try and get an injunction to prevent destruction of records that may evidence a crime.
I've said it before and it makes the Obama supporters crazy, but if Hillary is elected, she will allow selective prosecution of 3 or 4 of the most flagrant abuses but not so much as to derail her first 100.
If Obama is elected, he will pardon all transgressions if a spirit of bipartisanship, "new politics" and moving on.
neither one of them is going to have the stomach to open this can of worms because everybody's got dirt on their hands. everybody. if they though they could find a few gop scapegoats, they would. but it's too deep and stretches through both parties. what did the intelligence committees know and when did they know it? who was informed of what and when? please.
there will be no investigations.

Maybe it makes the Obama supporters crazy because it has no basis in truth?
Can you honestly see him allowing a prosecution of the previous regime in his first 100 days?
Honestly?
We don't do this sh*t in America.
When have we not?
hmmm, what a curious thread.
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? could we?
