On the morning news programs it said he was leaving his Crawford ranch to muster up support for the war. Is he ever going to learn?
I've lost all respect for Lance Armstrong as well. During a recent visit it mentioned he was a close friend of the President.

Posted: 8/22/05 at 3:39pmJust because he's friends with the President doesn't mean he's politically in tune with the President. Lance Armstrong is pretty vocal about his being a Democrat, if I'm not mistaken.

He's a democrat and he's vocally against the war.
Which is why I find it hard to understand that during his bike ride with the president there was "no talk" of the war.

My feelings about Bush reflect those of Lisa Simpson towards Bart...

Well, certainly I don't know much, but since he can't be re-elected, is it important to him any more ? The damage is done !
And if the rumors circulating in Europe about Guilliani running for President next term are true, it looks like another victory for the Republicans is coming ! Though I have to say, as a foreigner, that I don't know ONE single person -myself included - who doesn't like Guilliani ! From what we Europeans know, mind you !

re: Bush At 36% Approval, Nixon Was At 39% During Height Of Watergate#9
Posted: 8/22/05 at 6:59pmOh, I am sure there are a lot of people in America who don't like him for different reasons ! What I meant is that, for the rest of the world who are not involved in American politics, his image is close to perfect ! Like, what's G.W. Busch's image in the world ? Guiliani's is the complete opposite LOL
re: Bush At 36% Approval, Nixon Was At 39% During Height Of Watergate#10
Posted: 8/23/05 at 2:21amGuiliani would be a formidable opponent--BUT he is too liberal for the GOP base.
re: Bush At 36% Approval, Nixon Was At 39% During Height Of Watergate#11
Posted: 8/23/05 at 2:50amYes, but if he guarantees the Republicans a victory, isn't it safer to go with him than anyone else ? They probably know, that after the bozo, their chances of a third win in a row are very slim and politics is all about winning. I'd love your thoughts about it jerby. I always agree with your political views ! I, mean, of course I am not involved in American politics but I support Democrats with all my heart. But even when I heard about him, I thought, hmmmm Guiliani, that sounds like a great choice. Know what I mean ? Imagine undecided voters ! And if another rumor is true and he runs against Hilary it will be a landslide for him.
re: Bush At 36% Approval, Nixon Was At 39% During Height Of Watergate#12
Posted: 8/23/05 at 3:11amYeah--I think he would win in a landslide. I might even vote for him. MAYBE. :P

Yeah, If I was in the U.S. I might even vote for him, too LOL.
So he truly is a great man ? Suspicious me thought that, maybe his impeccable image around the world, could be the result of incredible Image Makers and a great P.R department. But if my friend jerby, who is way more informed, likes him, than there must be something great about him !

Guilliani would never be nominated by the GOP. He's pro choice , not anti gay and far too moderate for the extreme right wing.
Guilliani also does not play well with others. As a mayor , he could get by being a petty dictator. But the President has to work with the congress to get things passed, and Guilliani wants things done his way.
Plus, Guilliani is his own worst enemy. He constantly sticks his foot in his mouth. The reason he was losing his senate bid years ago wasn't because Hillary was doing so well, but that he was doing so badly. If 9/11 hadn't happened, he would just be a long forgotten mayor by now.
Personally , I can't stand him.

Bush may not be able to run for another term (although I wouldn't put it past him to try to change that
), but when you don't have the support of most of America, it's harder for the President to get the things he's trying to do done.

I like this thread because it is reall informative for me. South Fl, but what if the Republicans see that there's no chance for re-election ? Wouldn't that force them to present a more liberal leader in the hope that they can steal some liberal votes ? In politics it is usual to swing views in order to get more votes, isn't it ?
And, though I don't know much, I doubt that Rudy or anyone, can be worse than Dubya. And he won two terms !!!!

Unless there is a huge change that is noticable before the next election the Repubs will keep with the hard right push. They feel the untapped masses, and the ones who won the last election for them are all right leaning.
The more moderate options will not get the support of the base of the party.
So all the swinging remains on the Democrats who keep swing to the right to try to get votes and alienating those of us farther to the left.

He has losing the support of the far right wing--that's why the numbers are plummeting.
Plus he is losing more and more of the moderate, sensible Republicans.
All he has left are mindless, diehard, stubborn blowhards you find sputtering on Internet sites, pointing fingers at Democrats whenever Republican faults are pointed out.

well, even josh marshall (noted fascist neo-con and dem basher that he is *disengage sarcasm filter*) points to my choice of pollsters, rasmussen, who has bush still in negative territory, but no where near arg-land. so as usual, believe whatever poll you choose to believe, but remember which ones have been accurate in the past when making your choice, unless you choose to live in fantasyland.
