Bush on 9/11 Warning: "All right, you covered your ass"

Everyone needs to read this amazing article that lays out all the chances we had to stop 9/11 and the Republican inaction. Some highlights:

--On July 10, a month before she told the President that the Daily Briefing titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike within the US" was of a historical nature, Condoleeza Rice was told by the CIA that the coming attack will be “spectacular” and designed to inflict heavy casualties against U.S. targets.

--That briefing led to the CIA daily briefing noting that “FBI information … indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York. The FBI is conducting approximately 70 full field investigations throughout the US that it considers Bin Ladin-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our Embassy in the UAE in May saying that a group of Bin Ladin supporters was in the US planning attacks with explosives.”
Bush apparently was not pleased by the CIA’s intrusion on his vacation nor with the report’s lack of specific targets and dates. He glared at the CIA briefer and snapped, “All right, you’ve covered your ass."

--FBI agent Harry Samit, who interrogated Moussaoui, sent 70 warnings (!!!) to his superiors that the Islamic extremist had been taking flight training in Minnesota because he was planning to hijack a plane for a terrorist operation.
years later at Moussaoui’s criminal trial. Samit’s futile warnings matched the frustrations of other federal agents in Minnesota and Arizona who had gotten wind of al-Qaeda’s audacious scheme to train pilots for operations in the United States. The agents couldn’t get their warnings addressed by senior officials at FBI headquarters.

On a certain level, it is obvious that Bush, Cheney and Rice just didn't care.

...Bush and his senior advisers continued their hostility toward what they viewed as the old Clinton phobia about terrorism and this little-known group called al-Qaeda.

Because no one likes to claim that they made a mistake.

They would rather push the blame off on anyone else.

If you think that is appalling you should read the "bi-partisan" 9/11 Report. If that piece of filth passes for an investigation thorough report then we are in serious trouble.

Everyone bitches about Rosie questioning anything about 9/11, but I have to tell you she is the ONLY one doing so in the media.

This Tenet stuff IS NOT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly we all new it shortly after 9/11 happened. No one believed us.

Theatre- 9/11 was no mistake. Ignorance and failure on that scale are bigger than leaving the iron on.
