That's hard. I'd say the revival.
I have both -- they each have theor merits
AG -- be sure to think about the kindness of strangers -- select the more -- dare I say -- affordable recording and hope some of us have extra copies of the double cd's (i.e. Caroline, Sweeny todd)...
Gotcha KMF, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
Off to go narrow the list down!
What does everyone think of Sunday in the Park with George?
I love Sunday in the Park with George, but I'd choose another recording and just go with the Sunday DVD. That is definitely worth the money. Updated On: 8/17/04 at 07:28 PM
Sundayis brilliant -- actaully listening to it now...once again, I ask is anyone going to Ravina over Labor day to hear Audra, Michael C and Ms LuPone tear this apart??? I'll be there Saturday and would love to meet anyone going...picnic before with lots of wine!
I am dying to go, but I won't be able to. Is Patti playing Yvonne?
One last question lol
Cabaret: OBCR or Revival?
revival. alan cumming is amazing. however natasha richardson is a headache. and there are a few more songs in the OBC version .. no. revival. definitely revival.
ok -- don't have the script/score with me -- act one is is playin the "old Woman" -- george's mother..
Tough. Love both. But OBC.

I have a hard time imagining LuPone singing "Beautiful." But that concert should be interesting, that's for sure. Have fun, KMF! :)
I adore Sunday in the Park With George. I have both the DVD and the OBC because the OBC, with the benefit of multiple takes, has slightly better singing and overall sound quality.
oh PLum, I think Patti will be wonderful in the part, but I am biased...she was a FIERCE Fosca last year
Alright Aspiring, you know I have to give my opinion right (because the spider knows all). Ok, here are my top five choices of your top ten.
Last 5 Years
Assassins
tick...tick...BOOM!
Parade
Cabaret
There ya go. Also, JCS 1996 London Cast recording is also a must.
LOL Thanks Spider, I'll definitely take those into consideration!

Nonono, Sweeney has to be in there. That's not negotiable. :P
Oh crap........did I delete SWEENEY? I am so sorry. Well, actually keep my list, but buy the SWEENEY CONCERT dvd instead.

OBC! OBC!
(Sorry, spider. We just can't agree on anything, can we?)
I think the OBC is cheaper. And Cariou and Lansbury rock my socks. Or ask SticktoPriest about it- he's the resident Sweeney guru, for obvious reasons.
I don't own the Concert recording or DVD (getting it soon), but I do have the OBC and 1982 DVD. Both are well worth the money, and you can't beat Angela Lansbury, no matter what Patti LuPone tells you.
Sorry, Plum........I guess we can't
The OBC is great too, I just like watching it better than listening to it. Oh well.......I am a horrible broadway fan.

If you actually listened to multiple versions, you can't possibly be that bad of a Broadway fan, spider. :)
The OBC is a quasi-holy object to me. If I ever stop being agnostic and turn into a full-on atheist, the "quasi" will disappear.
