Great episode this morning including:
- David Hockney: An appreciation (Hockney died this week - 6/11/26)
- An interview with former child actor Bill Mumy ("The Twilight Zone", "Lost in Space")
and an interesting interview with VP J.D. Vance. Vance appears to be stumping for a run at the presidency.
In the interview, he offers his autobiographical account of how he ultimately became a Catholic, how "[...] there are all these moral truths" that flow from Jesus being the Son of God, and that applying those moral truths in a very messy word is a "big part of what you have to do as a political leader".
He also speaks about the influence of encyclicals written by the current Pope Leo, and Pope Leo the 13th regarding a theme that "technology needs too be subservient to human dignity, and not the other way around".
He came across as being well-grounded in his Catholicism, and impressive in regards to his view on how to manage technological advances, and particularly AI.
But then I looked at his behaviors in his current role as VP under Trump. When I looked for examples of where he applied all the "morals truths" he'd spoken of earlier - specifically in regards to his relationship Donald Trump - all I could see was a "Yes"-man. A man who was staid solidly within the boundaries of Trumps policies and ideals.
So, I knew it was all B.S.

The more interesting thing will be to see if Rubio challenges him for the nomination.

IMO, Rubio hasn't done any stumping, or written any books that I'm aware of. Nothing regarding Rubio will be "the more interesting thing" unless, or until that happens.
I (and I'm just speaking personally) don't find an "if" something happens to be more interesting than what is happening, now.
E.g., Vance closed the interview with a big song and dance about how he has to be focused only on being the "best vice-president" he can be. It was exactly like the dialog written for the character of Selina Meyers in S3 of "Veep".
He indicated that focusing on a future presidential campaign would distract from his current focus. ...and yet there he was stumping for the public's consideration on CBS Sunday Morning.
Also, when asked about Trump's current health, he was the epitome of the "Yes"-man I described earlier, painting Trump as someone who (apparently) can survive without sleep - a real superman.
He compared Trump's current fitness to that of men 30 years his junior. He was completely blinded in regards to Trump's meandering and incoherent speech, his bloated cankles, his chronic napping in public and on camera, etc.
Given what Vance put on display today, I don't want to think about Rubio until Rubio presents himself as being in the race. Today, there's a lot to take in re: Vance.

Considering the right wing hack known as Bari Weiss, why would anyone be watching CBS news these days, or CBS at all?

Not if you’re watching CBS.
