I have only ever been to Hollywood once - and it was for one day. In fact, only for two hours.

The one thing that I remember the most from those two hours was visiting the front of Grauman's Chinese Theater and seeing a strange sight: tons of theme park-looking characters posing for pictures.

I saw Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Gandalf, Harry Potter, Arnold Swartzanegger (as Terminator), Rambo, etc. I was...I guess the word is...perplexed as to what they were doing there. In New York, when you see these characters, it's usually to promote something. But these characters looked so...FAKE. In a bad way. Very very cheap costumes and odd/awkward actors. Quite different from the characters you see in New York.

I just saw a promo for a documentary about these actors called CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERHERO and it looked quite good - has anyone seen it? Thoughts?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
