Cabaret advice

I'm singing in a cabaret, and I've narrowed my song selection down to two. Ain't No Way by Carolyn and Aretha Franklin, or I'm Alive from next to normal. Both are in my range and I can sing them both well. It comes down to if audiences usually prefer slower songs or more upbeat ones. Can anyone who has performed in this type of setting (smaller space, piano accomp, smaller crowd, etc.) chime in?
