Prop 81, a measure that would have allowed 600 million in funding for California public libraries did not pass by a 55 to 45% margin.
I am so damn disgusted I could spit nails. This would have truly helped my local public library upgarde and add on to their current building.
Also not passing was Prop 82, the universal preschool prop. This I did not mind as I feel if they are putting money into schools they need to put the monies where it's most needed, classroom materials, libraries, updating facilities.......etc
So who needs to read? Big Brother will tell you anything you need to know...
as a librarian, i'm disgusted to hear this.
I know turtle.........last year was the last year of the AB2812 monies for schools, and now this........absolutely repulsive.
At least our infamous Gubernator in his budget has earmarked a ton of money for schools with $7 million earmarked for a statewide database deal, BUT.........no guarentee he'll get it

California is too busy trying to make pre-schoolers go to daycare to bother with actual learning.
I was disgusted by this as well...almost as disgusted as when I arrived to vote and was attacked by three voting volunteers just glad to see anyone show up to vote!
I voted yes and fully expected it to pass. Perhaps if more than 10 people had turned out to vote in my county, it may have.
