I have discovered that there are apparently powers of perception that are necessary for participation in an internet message board such as this that I simply don’t have.
Apparently, some people can KNOW for certain that another poster is not who they are presenting themselves to be, thus enabling them to freely and openly mock that poster – with no thought or regard as to what effect their caustic comments may have. This power of perception is so strong in fact that they can ignore attempts at confirmation by other posters who say they have first-hand knowledge that the ‘imposter’ is real.
I must admit that I simply don’t have this capability.
It also seems that some people can read what is written by someone else, but simply by their own power determine what it is the poster REALLY meant. Even without the benefit of any words or phrases supporting their claims, they can still state with certainty that they KNOW what the poster REALLY has in their mind.
I must admit that I don’t have this capability either.
So, what am I to do? Is it possible to stumble forth, knowing that I am limited to what it is that I can read in front of me? Is it fair to these super-beings with such all-seeing and all-knowing awareness that I continue to post without the benefit of their certitude?
I would hate to think that my mere practical and forthright participation would sully or otherwise mar the crystalline illumination that these super-posters bring into our lives.

Not. One. Bit.
And I know what you meant by this and I don't like it.
Not, One, Bit.
As a matter of fact, I don't believe you say who you say you are.

Sybil:In your easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it. I'll be the grandest fellow in the easter parade. Fifth avenue... uh-ah, uh-ah. Fifth avenue... uh-ah, uh-ah...
[slumps down and begins crying like a child]
Dr.Wilbur: Vanessa, what's the matter?
Sybil: [in a child's voice] I'm NOT Vanessa!
Dr.Wilbur: I'm sorry Peggy but you popped out so fast...

If what I said last night doesn't ring any bells with you, then chances are you probably are better off. And it really isn't aimed at one particular person, it was in reaction to a couple of threads that were percolating that exemplified the worst that this board can become. Unfortunately, those that inspired these thoughts probably won't recognize themselves in the words, and even if they do, it probably won't mean a thing to them.
Reality is, I know this doesn't do a damn thing about it, but it sure made me feel better.
We return you now to the regularly scheduled program already in progress.

Eddie, that "Good day sir" coming from your avatar just gave me a GREAT LAUGH!
And, as I possess super-poster abilities, I can also unequivocally say that that picture is indeed you.
You may thank me privately.
