We are celebrating C14's graduation this week and it is to be stormy. This past weekend was very nice. June, September and October and my favorite months in Chi.
Sorry about the weather. But OMG, graduation? How exciting!!

Yes, where has the time flown??? It really freaks us out. Mrs Brd. is a basket case.
Aww, that's so cute though. I graduate in December, I'm sure my mom will be bawling.

Wow, seems like you returned to NY only yesterday!

I feel old today. I painted the front porch yesterday and my back is sore.
Hey, my back would be sore too, brd!
Hey peepers.

*tries to imagine Shira painting a porch*
I can't even try, DG.
I did see her touch a leaf in the urban forest once.

girly - you are a savior!
I've seen shira eat in a place that had paper napkins - that's the extent of her slummin it I've seen.....
They look so good! I still want to try that Purple Nurple. Maybe in August.

I can see Shira ordering the painters around, though.
SHIRA: I want it to be a soft green, not as blue-green as a robin's egg, but not as yellow-green as daffodil buds. Now, the only sample I could get is a little too yellow, but don't let whoever does it go to the other extreme and get it too blue. It should just be a sort of grayish-yellow-green. Now, the dining room. I'd like yellow. Not just yellow; a very gay yellow. Something bright and sunshine-y. I tell you, Mr. PeDelford, if you'll send one of your men to the grocer for a pound of their best butter, and match that exactly, you can't go wrong! Now, this is the paper we're going to use in the hall. It's flowered, but I don't want the ceiling to match any of the colors of the flowers. There's some little dots in the background, and it's these dots I want you to match. Not the little greenish dot near the hollyhock leaf, but the little bluish dot between the rosebud and the delphinium blossom. Is that clear? Now the kitchen is to be white. Not a cold, antiseptic hospital white. A little warmer, but still, not to suggest any other color but white. Now for the powder room - in here - I want you to match this thread, and don't lose it. It's the only spool I have and I had an awful time finding it! As you can see, it's practically an apple red. Somewhere between a healthy winesap and an unripened Jonathan...

Afternoon Adults - popping in during a break in my conference to say Hello.
After the Friday I had (and the morning I had today) I'm just sort of coasting this afternoon. I have two interns here right now, one of 'em at my desk, so I sort of have an excuse...
That was funny, deet.
Coast away!
Coasting. Sounds nice.
Hey, YWIW!
I want to try that red, white and blue shotglass thingy, too.

... on a totally selfish note, a year ago tonight I met the illustrious jS.
I can't take credit for it, DD - it's from a very funny movie from the 40's called MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE. Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. That scene has Myrna Loy talking with the contractor and his painters. It ends with her being called away, and the following dialog (equally as priceless):
MR. PeDelford: Ya got that, Charlie?
Charlie: Yeah. Green, Yellow, Blue, White and Red.
And in that scene, I am PeDelford and you are Charlie, if we contractors and painters.
That's a big IF, DD!
And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
