Couple of weeks ago I noticed water in my dining room. I thought at first the dogs relieved themselves, then I realized they were confined to the kitchen. I cleaned it up and as the days went on the water was getting more and more and coming up in other spots. After consulting with a plumber I found out it was my radiant heat. It seems a pipe broke. Luckily my cousin's hubby knew how to turn the water flow to those pipes off for me. Because I'm on a slab they say they'd have to jack hammer my whole house to find the leak. Plumbers say I should just do baseboard or forced hot air. Insurance says they can find the pipe. They are telling me they will only pay for the water damage. Of course they will being there is no water damage. I should sit my dining room table and chairs in water now. Now I wait for them to come and asset the situation. Can they actually leave me without heat? Who can I call if they try getting out of this?

Oh crap! That sound damaging and disruptive to the max. Expensive, too!
Happy Thursday Adults. Mom comes home some time today - her boyfriend will take care of the return trip from the hospital.
Boobs, I would look at your policy to see what is excluded - those policies have sneaky language. They may not pay for what is considered repairs, but only damage caused by the broken item.
YWIW, glad to hear Mom is coming home today.
I will have to find the policy now. These insurance agencies got us by the balls! Even after Sandy they didn't help much. Hopefully they will do the right thing because I can't afford a new heating system. I'll need to do a telethon.

I doubt the repair is covered.
RAIN RAIN AND MORE RAIN! We might have had 4-5 inches since yesterday. Lunch function today.
brd, it could be worse...it could be snow!

That is true! Will not be long! I really should not complain, it rained during the entire Bears game on Sunday and I had covered seats!
Mild and sunny for the weekend.
Mooney - C15 was up until 12:30 am for a chem/phys lab and could not finish it! He is averaging about 4 hours a night of homework.
Note to self. Never buy fancy schmancy radiant heating under marble floors.
I feel for you Poddie.
Boobs, that sounds like a complete headache. Good luck!
Heading to VT in the morning. Hope to see pretty Autumn leaves! Love this time of year.
Safe travels, Addy.
Poddie, I hear nowadays they use PVC pipe. Mine they said is copper which wears away with age. Damn Cosmo! Didn't he say that copper is the best????

Morning peeps! Poddie, this week dragged! I'm looking forward to the weekend. Hopefully tomorrow my new kitchen island will arrive. Those bitches never called me back to confirm. Don;t they know I have to move things before they arrive? Bastards!
BTW on the radiant heat front. Insurance had me hire a "leak detection" company ($450 for 2 hours). Supposedly they can find the pipe that is broken without jack hammering my entire house. If they find the pipe(s) insurance will pay to have the area jack hammered...I have to pay for the pipe repair and then insurance will pay to have the tile replaced. They will also reimburse me for the detection company if they find the pipe(s). Which makes no difference being I have a $500 deductible.

SOMMS, if the old man were here in the kitchen and I had a lead pipe . . . . . .
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!! Cocktails with a dear friend. Meeting C15 at home trying to convince him to go to dinner. It is pre-game night and he lays low for the evening.
Fest tomorrow where I will literally know 300 people and then a reasonable Sunday before two weeks of complete chaos. Mrs. Brd is working two weeks with no day off. And, we both are going out of town!
It turned into a wonderful Friday for us. A new ballet production of Cinderella followed by a win by our beloved Hawks in a big, big game. A fine night was had by all. If we had any energy left, there would have been dancing in the streets. Saturday dawned sunny and bright with the promise of calm before a big week ahead.
G'morning, all you beautiful peeps. And those others who lurk here.

'Morning! I love that we're into fall. Bring on the pumpkin-spiced everything!
I must confess that I found the Emmy Awards so dreary and lack luster that I only watched for 45 minutes, then switched to ABC for finale reruns of Once Upon a Time and Revenge. Can't wait for next Sunday's season premieres!
I decided not to watch them, and it seems like I didn't miss much.
Morning peeps! The EMMY Awards were just background noise for me as I tried to alphabetize my CD collecion. Most are now on my ex-kitchen table which is in the family room. I wonder how long they will stay there? BTW the new kitchen island is perfect for the space.
Had a nice time in the City on Saturday with HC and his mom. She's a hoot! She hasn't been in the City for years and so her reaction to everything was priceless. "Lady Day" is a MUST see for any Billie Holiday fans. Dee Dee Bridgewater blew me away with her portrayal. If you closed your eyes you would swear Billie was on the stage singing to you. It was a heart wrenching performance. One of those theater experiences you'll never forget.

Other than Modern Family I do not believe that I viewed a single nominated drama or comedy. I watched the Bears and was up late! (Speaking of football - C15's team has outscored the opponents 151-0 in the first four games!
Great Fall weather here today, maybe not so crappy Monday.

My lord - that's almost a stellar endorsement, Brd!
Very happy for that high school's success on the field. I've always liked that school.
Boobs - seriously? Alphabetical order? Now THAT is organized!
Wasted the entire weekend waiting for the AT&T repairman, who never showed either day, nor called me to tell he he would not make it. AT&T makes Time Warner look like a beacon of customer service. I escalated the matter, but am really considering just dumping the land line completely. I only really want it for emergencies (during earthquakes and disasters, the land lines usually work, cell phones get too busy).
What a way to waste a precious weekend. Maybe someone in the Framily could PM me contact info for a nice little letter to their management. I am friendly with some in the corporate department (in the same building) and may see if they know who to talk to.
I get that maybe the cannot make the appointment - then don't freaking schedule it in the first place!
Now, I have no land line, and my cell phone is updating to the new OS. I am beginning to think a cabin in the woods is sounding appealing.
/end rant.
