Well, i am also am not all for the "lets have everyone watch me open 18 different baby bottles" thing, but to each their own, lol!

They made me open all my gifts at our engagement party, i felt so bad for everyone.

Engagement parties. Now that's something I've never gotten into. No one in my family or any of my friends ever had one. I think I was invited to one for a friend's sister who I barely knew. Please.

Ours was strictly for both families (immediate family, grandparents, close uncle and aunts) and the bridal party. No random people. We just wanted the immediate families to meet and get to know each other.

Oh boo hoo...you're stressing over going to a party. I"M trying to pack for ten days of totally unpredictable weather ranging from 50 to 70 degrees with rain on and off.

What kind of SHOES do you wear??? Should I bring short- or long-sleeve tops??? Basic black or mix it up???? THESE are the truly perplexing life questions!!!

In August I'll be stressing about packing to go to Michigan but not because I'm worried about taking the wrong things...because I'll be spending a week with my in-laws!!! (There should be another word for that besides "vacation.")

Tink, that's cool. My cousin refused one, and I thought her parents were going to pop a vein!

Not stressing over the party as much as the gift, Miss P. Also factor in that it's at noon, on what's supposed to be a gorgeous Saturday in the summer, and it's in Point Pleasant. PP is about 30-45 minutes (on a good day) south of where I live. This, as you might remember, adds up to sitting in traffic.

Girly, I am TOTALLY kidding, I hope you know that!

I don't envy you. Just the thought of driving to the Jersey shore on a nice summer day is stressful!

In terms of a gift...a gift card to Buy Buy Baby or a store like that is really helpful to new moms because they always need something that no one got them...plus there are tons of baby and children's clothes there.

If you want to "add" something to that, I small item, such as little silver bank or something like that is nice because they'll keep it forever. Someone gave my daughter a little "tooth fairy" box that we use everytime someone loses a tooth. She wil then have it for her children. My sone has a little Winnie-the-Pooh bank on his dresser that a dear friend gave him when he was born and he loves it.

So I say, A little "token" gift like that and a gift card. You'll be the best gift-giver there.

That's my 2 cents. Sorry if someone already had this idea. I haven't been reading excpet to PROCRASTINATE!!!

Popping back in for a moment. I'm heading out early today - too pretty to stay inside.

Not to beat a dead horse....but to go ahead and do it anyway.....the other nice thing about a gift card is that (in my experience) everyone gives you these cute, tiny things that your baby outgrows in a matter of weeks. All of a sudden, it's a different season and your child is out of those cute outfits - nothing to wear! It's at time time like this that a mom will thank you profusely for that gift card she has tucked away.

Ms. P - being that I have no children, my approach would be to pack as little as possible, and buy what I need when I'm there.
