Somms, I am sooooo jealous! I miss the lilac hedge that was at the old house. It was about 25-30 years old and huge. It would be just starting to bloom now. So please do post pictures.

I used to have one. Whoever planted it, put it at the end of the driveway. I always thought that was such a stupid place to put it. Put it closer to the house, so when you have the windows open, the scent wafts in, right?
I used to trim it and bring them into the house, until the neighbor was doing something or other and killed it on me.

I said good morning to the mommy bird as I left the house..I swear she hasn't moved since the day I tried cutting the tree down..she's there when I leave in the morning and is there when I come home at night. Maybe tonight I'll put the Ipod on the porch and put on some manilow for her..I think she'll like that.

Poddie, I have mommy and baby birdies in the awnings on either side of the house -- bedroom windows. I started to unroll the awnings this weekend but stopped when I heard their cheeps. We're both potential murders.

Poddie..we at least both stopped when we realized. I have a nest under one of the lights on the side of my garage too...that mommy bird is smaller than the one in the tree....I just wish the tree wasn't so close to my front door..she will be disturbed on Cinco de Mayo when my friends will be shaking their maracas.

To tell you the truth, I really do hate them at times, when I'm trying to sleep on the weekend and they're chirping right outside my window. I think there is a nest of some sort on the air conditioner that stays in the window all year round. I would never kill one, though!!

and i'll trade you, girlie, our neighbors have two yappy dogs that bark constantly. as us. at our dog. at the kids playing. at the wind. their owners leave them out for hours and hours and alls the dogs do is yap.
i got so annoyed yesterday that after spending a half hour opening all the windows in the house, i closed them a short while later, because the yapping had me on edge.
oh, and did i mention that they also have a huge bird? a cockatoo, i think. they leave it outside on their deck, too. and do you know what the bird does? it barks like the dogs do. my hand to god.
