Last night our Louise quit Gypsy (2 weeks before tech week) because she didn't think she needed an understudy. What the crap?

I would assume the understudy was cast at the same time she was, in which case this is just an excuse to get out of the production. I wonder what the real problem is?

Good luck with her ever working again. Theatre people don't forgive or forget easily. Obviously, she did need an understudy if she quits a show for some immature vain reason like that. What makes her better than, oh, EVERY BROADWAY PERFORMER?

yep...she was very good but the director of this show happens to be the founder of the theatre...she will never work in that theatre again.

devil's advocate: why was the understudy hired a week ago?
did she know there was no understudy until a week ago?
did something happen to motivate the powers that be to hire an understudy?
