I haven't ice skated in years, but I LOVE it. Do you think it's like riding a bicycle? Or would I fall flat on my face if I got on my skates?

Ms. P - last time I ice skated was on the Mall, near the Archives. It used to be an ice-skating rink, it's now the sculpture garden for the National Gallery of Art. It was my ex's and my 2nd date. January 1992. Wow.

DD - it's still there. In the summer it's a huge fountain in the center of the National Gallery of Art's sculpture garden. In the winter it becomes a skating rink, with skates for rent in the building off to the side.

Nope - it's still there. It's right between the West wing of the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum (and across Constitution Avenue from the National Archives - as you remembered). I don't think it's open yet for this season but it is scheduled to reopen in mid-November.

Ooooh....Missing all the chat! Ice-skating talk, the Smithsonian..hmmmmmmm...Just brough back some happy winter DC memories.

Wanted to drop a quick hello to the Adults. (Mamie, that is one cool cat in your av!!!)

DD I sent some words to you for a catch up. Yes, I know, at last!!!

Hope everyone is well. It's a glorious autumn here - I've never seen such colours in years. It's almost worth putting up with the wet summer we had just for this.

Hi all before everyone leaves for the day. No internet at school today as something was being worked on. Cold and windy with snow flurries today. I'm tired but I have no place to go so I can just relax tonight after I make dinner, of course.

I am "poor and cold"....the other good news that goes along with the cold...they filled the oil tank today - just over $1300..ugh! Let's all move to Florida with Harris and the cows!
