I've spent some of yesterday and most of today reading about U.S. Imperialism in Haiti. Needless to say, I'm kind of bored.

mamie... I am taking a trip. To Costa Rica, in January.
The Haitians were imperialists? Really? Who knew?

Posted: 10/28/07 at 11:33pmMamie, those days seem like yesterday. My kids have always loved Halloween, but petting zoos are a thing of the past.

Posted: 10/28/07 at 11:38pmThey're in the past because you're so young! These are all grand kids. When yours come along, you'll be back at the petting zoos!

There is a petting zoo at Disneyland. I always stop by and apologize for the indignity thrust upon them - and whatever hardship they must endure because of the unruly behavior of heathen children.
Thankfully, it's next to one of the three smoking areas in the park, so I don't waste much of my time.
Or theirs.

The visual, DG. The visual.
Shira... it was funnier before you fixed it. And honestly, I wasn't making fun of you, I was intrigued about those imperialist Haitians.

I like petting zoos. Actually, I just like petting animals. There is certainly something soothing about it.
However, I dislike a) The way the animals are treated by handlers and the fact that they are, well, in a zoo and b) the PARENTS who let their kids pull and torture the poor dears.

Shira - you'ld like going to a petting zoo with me. I spend my time rescuing the animals from the devil children - and then tormenting the children in return.
And on a rare occasion, I get to confront the parent of a devil child, and all hell breaks loose.
I always win.
But so do the animals . . .

Posted: 10/29/07 at 12:08amCan't we just torment the idiot parents who should never have been allowed to breed? I do like children. But the devil children - they can go.

I'm pretty sure the devil children and the adults who shouldn't breed are related.
Grab your crowbar, and we'll deal with them all at once

*sigh*
I just got two e-mails back-to-back. A friend who has already battled a brain tumor (including surgical removal) is showing signs of another one. And another friend who's mother has battled cancer for two years succumbed yesterday.
Be thankful for what we have today.
