Shira, that made me laugh...
Tink, I'm not a big New Year's Eve party person. Every year I go through the same thing: to go out or stay in. Hopefully whatever you decide to do will be fun!

Nah, if I'm going to splurge on something, it will be on pasta.

Happy New Year, everyone.
This is day 10 of our planned 15-day stretch of planned activities with out-of-town guests. We've decided our actual New Years Day is the 6th - which is the day AFTER all of the out-of-town visitors leave.
It's a beautiful day here, and our gathering tonight should be lovely. Then it's just five more days. Five long days . . .
Shira and Addy - got your e-mails. Thank you for the lovely thoughts. I'll get back to you in the New Year - once the sanitarium clears me for release.

Mooney - Atlanta is just fine. We've had rain for 10 of the last 12 days - which we desperately needed. 2007 has now averted the distiction of being the driest year on record (1954 wins). No rain today after a deluge yesterday.
I'm enjoying having a little time off from work - spending time with my Family and Friends and having fun visiting with you all!

addy, I would prefer to stay in, but being 24 and NEVER having really done anything makes me feel like I have to at least once, lol.
I like to go out in general, but i am actually a very low key person. A nice dinner at the local diner, a good book or movie, and I'm set for an evening. But will I be regretting that in 5 years? And so you know understand why I say I have voices, lol!

Isn't that an oxy-moron? I looove diners, but they're not known for "good food"

Jungle! It's been ages since we've crossed paths! Wishing you the happiest new year!!
Tink, a nice low key evening is always a favorite. Friends. Dinner. Playing a game or watching a movie. I'm all set... But, it sounds like your plans this year are just the ticket! Enjoy the party!

I have never been into large New Year's celebrations, though I do enjoy smaller celebrations with good friends, regardless of where they take place. We are invited to a friend's party, and I already RSVPd, but it's a drive from downtown, and I'm not sure I want to be driving back after midnight. PLUS I wouldn't be able to drink champagne at midnight.
Tink - going into Manhattan? It's crazy. Last year I was trying to get from the Village to 43rd, and it was crazy! I lucked out getting a cab.

I'm starting to think we won't be going. i will be going back and forth a lot for two continuous weekends in a few weeks, so I think I am going to try and avoid NYC until then. I was talking to Chris about it before and we have decided to start planning now and go away for next new years.
normally, I;d love nothing more the host a party here, but his friends are boring, lol. for new years 06, it was just me, Chris, and his best friend here and I was so bored I ended up sitting in the kitchen reading "The Hobbit" all night, lol.

I am having a couple of friends over tonight to help welcome in the New Year. The new place is not quite ready for a party, but a few friends should be OK.
I went crazy and over-shopped, but hell, what are the holidays for but good cheese, wine, and snacks?

Hey, if you can get here in time, you are more than welcome.
I bought some of the Brie that you heat up and it melts for the crackers - and some Smoke Gouda and something Spanish that was recommended.
Some white, some red, some champagne, and some soda for those driving.
It should be mellow and relaxing - maybe take out a game or two to play with some music in the background.
And the cats will entertain all...
Actually, it doesn't sound too bad.
And yeah Shira - you are a hostesses best friend!
