Hi Beacon - congrats on your trip!!!! Sounds fun!
I have not been to NYC in years and with tuition it might be years!
So, I went to work today, to discover I have no work. Oh, I'd written "NO WORK" in my day planner, but who looks at that in the morning?
*sigh*
Home, eating fruit and mango and waiting for my taste buds to return.
I miss you all. Where's my Q? I miss him!
I hope that mango was sweet.
It was dried, and not so good. I like plain mango, not the overly sweet stuff.
I have problems with particularly juicy mango. I always feel as though I need a bath afterwards.
No more mango here - it is is now officially out of season.
Oh, and for the record, I figure my godfathers (and Brd) would like to see this image:
See - I'm studying!
Atta girl.
So, how is the Bard going?
He's doing okay. But I feel like As You Like It doesn't give me as much "meat" to extrapolate and BS on.
Ah, yes, the underrated art of waffling and piffling.
Exactly. I'm doing okay, but it's not a very dense play.
No, its' not.
It does have that Renaissance tradition of pastoral literature, the rustic scene removing one's self from the then rather awful urban landscape.
Well, I waffled as best I could.
I'm sure it's wonderful.
Eros, identity, pastoral, all wonderful waffling themes.
I don't write about themes, they bore me. I focus more on individual lines, character dilemmas, and my general annoyance with Shakespeare's sexism.
Don't forget that his attitude was the mindset of the 16th Century. It would be folly to read it with 21st Century eyes. His comedies were quite liberal for the time. Don't forget that there was a female monarch during Shakespeare's career. Certainly, the strong females in his comedies often had to cross-dress and play the male to win. However, the boundaries could be pushed in a comedy. The sumptuary laws of the time were so often broken in comedy, that rules of gender and identity could be malleable. The whole topic is so broad, though. Thousands of academics have gained tenure through the years thanks to this topic.
The cows bring in cider for all
And girly. Whom I was talking about earlyer. His name starts with. A. M
You were talking about Adolphe Menjou?
It would be folly, Hep - but there's a reason I don't do literature so well, and that is "perspective".
Ah, yes.
At least I recognize that I'm completely egocentric!
Oh, no, not you, Shira.
Yes. Me. ME. MEEEEE!!!!
