Mom's doing much better. Her hysteria of last week diminshed as the storm approached. The windows were boarded up on Saturday and she evacuated on Sunday morning. She learned from losing everything in Katrina to: 1) take the important papers and documents with you 2) take your car with you (note to Honda Accord owners - your car is NOT a floatation device).
Her area only had 45 mph winds and minor flooding and a few trees down (most were already down). She can't go back until tomorrow (her street still has a lot of water and there's no electricity)but she's weathered (yeah, a pun) her first post-Katrina evacuation and all's well.

This whole thing would be a lot better if she took up drinking or MOVED OFF THE DAMN BEACH.

My sister in Louisiana has no power, but no major damage. She will return to work tomorrow.

We have heat today! Very warm for 9/2. The kids will be sweating in school.

I usually go on a diet after Labor Day!

I was watching some people karaoke at a bar on the boardwalk. One guy was really bad, but had such a great time with it, everyone loved him. I could never do it.

I said that maybe I would go once they all went and I saw how the crowd was. Well they went ahead and put my selection in and had them call me first to go up.
