Cake!
The cake's nice, but even better is the presence of most of my favorite peeps! Lah!

Actually, I would have been here for Deet's morning coffee call, but our network has been down until a few moments ago.
Special "Hey" to Hep! Congrats on your team's victory!
I had an early morning writing session with BritGuy, and then a lovely s.n.a.f.u. on the subway this morning. Took me over an hour to get from the upper west side to midtown west.
How is my first act finale coming?

GH - congrats! It will be a long season for the Bears, but our Cubs should easily make the playoffs and can win the division if we get back on track!
Happy Friday! I need to catch up after yesterday when I spent all day on one brief and reading posts about that vile new VP choice. (no politics here though, I was only mentioning my activities and not my positions.)
You're going to need that 15 minute intermission, SOMMS.
Perhaps a gaggle of shirtless chorus boys could carry me on stage for Act II.
Already in the script, darling.

Watch it, Brd. You're treading on thin ice.
My boss just informed me that he's taking me and our new Director of Theater to NYC in November. He wants to take us to 2 shows on a Wednesday - our pick. We've been hunting for good seats to Billy Elliot, but both matinee and evening only have far left/right waaaay back left. As long as the school is paying our way, we'd really like orchestra. The search continues.....
D2 - please tell me that his dance routine contains "Erps"!!!

Moon,
I don;t know if you caught my post about the transition to high school, C14 has never seen work like this! Spanish is causing some stress and math is always a struggle. The Curriculum is similiar to my freshman year of college. Regardless, she is very happy. She has a lot of friends through cheerleadig and band.
No "erps" (yet) but he does have one routine in a thong. And another in a long red velvet dress with feathers in his hair.
I forgot to add he's sitting on a rising moon during that number.

LOL, Brd - I know! The curiculum has raced ahead of us old folks. Ten years ago we went to a 'block" system with classes that meet for 1 1/2 hours with only 4 classes a day. That way we still have the same amount of class time, but the girls only have homework in 4 classes each night and they only meet those classes every other day. For the most part, it works well. We're big on having the girls involved in theater, dance, sports, art, etc after school so we need to accomodate that while keeping the academic work challenging. For the record, my daughter's first semester of Freshman year was her very worse. the transition really took its toll on her. After that first one, though, all was smooth sailing. As long as she's happy....
I hope that's a blue moon I'm sitting on.
awwww, boobs will be so jealous of SOMMS red dress. You should work a duet somehow!

I think our school switched from the block system a few years ago. There does seem to be a lot of time spent traveling between classes. She has activities after school only two days a week, so there is plenty of time for homework on the other two days. She was lamenting that her younger sister is ignoring her and she actually said that she "missed her." That may not sound like a big thing, but this kid is a stoic.
