I guess even Helen Reddy now qualifies as "old."
I went to see Helen Reddy in the 70s at Wetsbury Music Fair because Steve Martin, whom I adored, opened for her.
I thought she was pretty hot sh*t in the '70s.
She was, but Steve Martin was practically unknown at the time!
I think I have to take some painm medication for my teeth and lie down now.
See you tomorrow!
Xooo
I love Steve Martin.
Feel better, babe.

Good lord, I missed the wise women of 1308! Weekend greetings to all of you.
Off to Philly this morning, back for a dance show and reception tonight. Mother-Daughter Brunch for 400 Sunday morning. Is there a weekend in there somewhere??

Moony - it will happen about 3:30 tonight - don't wait up.
It sounds like you have fun plans, though.

Thanks, DG. I'll set my alarm.
Not all that fun - except the dance concert. I'm moving my daughter (and 10 tons of junk) back home after 4 years of college. She has her last final this morning - graduation is next Saturday. I'm working at the reception tonight and the brunch tomorrow rather than enjoying as a guest.
But it's a beautiful day!

Well, now that she's graduated, she can go get some fabulous job and take care of you in the manner to which you'ld like to become accustomed.
And how do you keep having to work all these functions - does someone at the rectory have video of you stashed away?
Good Weekend morning to all! Seems like I always miss all the fun. I guess if I want to hang out with this group I have to change my lifestyle habits and stay up later. Nothing was happening when I checked in around 10pm. Watched Conviction and I think that was Jane Houdyshell that played a judge. She was excellent when I saw her in WELL.
Bdrlwyr - Hope the pup is okay. That is such a trauma when something happens to a pet.
Working a 4 hour shift today and then home to relax and watch the Kentucky Derby and whatever else I want to do. No big plans this weekend.

addict - it sounds like Moony could use your plan of relaxation!
We've got the Pacific Playwright's Festival this weekend at South Coast Repertory.
Have your mint julep in hand!
DG, I don't want to know what's on that tape. But clearly she's sinned, because she works more than the President!
Oh wait - bad example.

Good Saturday Morning, all...I'm feeling lazy and I have waaaaay too much to do.
Is it okay to play hookie from housework and errands?

I don't know how you guys can get up so early on a Saturday. After the work week, I just can't do it. I have to have major plans happening for me to get up 7ish on a Sat. or Sun.
beacs, I never feel the least bit guilty when I ignore mundane chores. I usually try to get stuff done little by little starting on Thursday and Friday, leaving the weekend free for whatever I have planned or might pop up unexpectedly.

Girly, my bedroom door is apparently made of paper. And my bedroom is off the kitchen, so when my roommate gets up at 8:30 Saturdays to cook a meal fit for an army troop (after I've gone to bed at about 2:00), it sounds ilke she's in my room. Then I fall back to sleep for a while and am all groggy when I finally do wake up.
My body is so accustomed to waking up at 5:30, that I do it on the weekends, but I make myself go back to sleep for a few more hours. I did have a bit of trouble with that today, since I had the windows open. Damn birds need to learn to sleep in. Luckily no one started up a lawn mower.
I could never have a roommate. I'd be in jail for murder.

I do that, too, bdway girl. I do bits on Wed-Thu each week so my weekends are free. However, last night I cooked a roast overnight in the crockpot (with dry onion soup mix and a can of Pepsi. It is sooo yummy.) And now I have to do the creamed potatoes and get the apple cobbler out of the oven. That'll hold my brother and I for the next three days.
And, I have to do some prep work for a genealogy forum project for which I was just selected (yea!)...and have a load of items to drop at the Goodwill truck...
But I wanna stay in my jammies until its time to go to movie, dinner, and a meeting at Church...
The birds were loud this morning.
And, Rath, I can relate. When I lived in Salt Lake, at one point I shared a house with 4-5 other girls. One girl owned the house and our rent went towards her mortgage payment. We usually had pretty considerate folks there but one roommate would get in late, BLARE the sterio and television. Or get up early and bang all kinds of cookware making something to take to her boyfriend.
She had been through tons of roommates at BYU...and we sure understood why!
When she moved out we were so happy--until her replacement moved in. An odd, odd girl who stuffed all her belongings into a tiny bedroom. Added a sofa to the livingroom (back to back with the existing one) to create another gathering area. That was cool until she brought in another TV for that section. She would sit and watch another program LOUDLY on her side while we tried to watch on ours...or she would sit and watch the same program instead of comign around to our side.
It takes all kinds!

That roast does sound good. I haven't used my crock pot in years. I wonder if it even works.
That girl was weird!! A second couch is one thing, but a second t.v.??
Living alone has its pros and cons, but for me, the pros win out. I think another reason I couldn't room with someone, is I would be so afraid of disturbing the other person, I could never relax. I suppose I would get over that in time, though.

I'm always the quiet one who seethes at the other ones who have no clue how loud they are - or don't care.
My other roommate runs around the kitchen, wearing heels, every weekday at about 7:00 a.m., banging pans, dishes, etc. Again, this is right outside my paper door. The only way I could possibly disturb them ever is when I come in late, which is often, and I'm SO quiet when I do - I feel like I'm the only one who realizes that my actions affect other people.

It really depends on personalities. Some mesh. Some don't. I really liked living with the 4-5 others. I had my own room. It was large enough for privacy and there wasn't one-on-one pressure of living with a "stranger." We had one room that was considered the lucky room. Whatever girl lived there got engaged and married. Most weren't even dating their future husband at the time. The girl that owned the house used to joke that she could charge double the rent for THAT room.
And, I met some fascinating gals. In fact, when I left to serve my mission for the Church, the current occupant of the "marriage room" was making her wedding dress for the big event. She was an accounting student at the University, an incredible seamstress/upholsterer, cook, baker, candymaker, AND car mechanic. (She was the son her dad never had, LOL). She could make an incredible souffle then go out front and do an oil change on her VW bug. It was wild.

That would be me, too. The quiet one, sitting there silently seething! I live in a duplex with a family of 4, sometimes 5, with three dogs on the other side. Surprisingly, I rarely, if ever, hear the dogs. When the people get a bit noisy, I just put the t.v. up really loud. They usually get the point.

I have two roommates. I had one for a while as it took us a couple of months to find the third.
That would definitely be more than I could deal with. I'm just an old fogey, set in my ways!
I do have a couple things to do that I put off doing last night, so I think I will go get them done real quick. Procrastinator. Another piece of me!
Enjoy your Saturday ladies!
