I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good date!
Not sure yet. I have a few must do errands and am waiting to hear from a friend about meeting up tonight. I'd also like to squeeze in a visit with the new baby now that she's home and settled in, and see her big brother, too!

Hi all. I hope you're all having a terrific weekend.
I'd like your opinion on something. I went to the Kennedy Center this afternoon and saw a matinee performance of Sleeping Beauty performed by the American Ballet Theatre. There were a LOT of children in the audience, including 2 who sat right behind me. A little girl, about 4 and her big brother, about 5. The lights went down, the curtain came up, and the first two characters came out on the stage and the little girl asked her mother, in a LOUD whisper "Who are they?". Mom then proceeds to answer her. This was immediately followed by "What are they doing?". Mom answered that too. This continued through the entire performance. At one point it became so loud that I turned around, put my finger up to my lips, and said "Shhhh!". At the intermission the mother told me not to shush her children. I told her I wasn't - I was shushing her. It didn't help - the noise, with the additional fun of having the back of my chair constantly kicked, continued to the end.
Now I know the ballet was based on a popular fairy tale and I know it was a matinee and I know children need to experience the theatre, BUT
- it was the Kennedy Center, with full priced tickets
- it was a classical ballet, with the classic Petipa choreography
- music by Tchaikovsky, performed by the magnificent full KC orchestra
- it was NOT Disney!
I ended up loving the ballet and coming home with a splitting headache. The older I get, the less patience I have with things like this.
(By the way - the last thing I heard the little girl say as I was leaving was "Thanks for taking us, Mom. This was so good I don't even have to see the movie 3 times!" It almost made it all worthwhile!)
A click for life.

Yes, parents need to teach their children how to behave at the theatre/ballet.
So...I was cancelled on. Again. Seriously, do I have a sign on my forehead that says:
a) If you're ugly and awkward apply here and
b) If you have potential for me, please cancel?

Mamie, I would have asked the usher at intermission for an assist, or whether you could be moved.
It is tough - I understand that parents want to expose their kids to the arts, but they have to balance that with imposing their kids on other paying customers. I think the mom was out of line, but she probably thinks you were - she sounds like the type who has no idea that her and her children's behavior were limiting your enjoyment of the event.
And Shira, the label on your forehead says "too hot for losers" and he took a hint and decided that he wasn't worth your time!
