Theater should be run by a benign dictator - it's the one place where democracy doesn't quite work.

And your board should realize that it's primary function is to help the company realize the vision of its leader, and work accordingly to help meet the goals, both financial and artistic.

Even the best boards are people on them who have no business being there. Of course, I'm a tad jaded after years and years of dealing with non-profit boards. That's one of the things I love about my job now: I don't have to deal with the board at all!!!!

This is so true, Miss P - but I have a feeling the new chair is going to be separating the men from the boys with our board, if you know what I mean?
