Who knows what you're capable of these days.
But it's more likely that I'm just stupid some days. That's the saner answer.
That's the saner answer.
No comment. I'll let someone else take that one.
EDIT: I mean for me, people. I'm not known for my sanity!
So, are you two sitting next to each other, on the couch, having this conversation?
Shira? Home on a weekday morning? That's funny.
And there's no room for a couch here, at least while I'm crashing for the summer.
LOL, Shames. I'm at "work". Where my supervisor isn't showing up today. So playtime online it is. I wish I'd brought a book that I need to read for my final!
so, i just heard mary martin's version of do-ro-me... is it bad that i like her voice WAY more than julie andrews in general?
Yes. Now go to your room and think about what you've said.
Just kidding. I actually prefer Martin's version as well. She's got a real sense of fun and mischief in her voice.
I'm with Deet!
i prefer martin period. i usually don't like female's voices in general, but i like hers. and yes, i'm still upset that they used mitzi gaynor instead of her in the movie version of south pacific.

I grew up listening to the OBC recording of SOUND OF MUSIC - I've always loved Ms. Martin's earthy take on Maria (which is arguably much closer to the real deal.) But, I do so love the movie - and Julie.
Side note trivia - I had a friend and mentor who had seen pretty much everything on Broadway for over 50 years, and he SWORE that the wedding scene from the original production was the most moving and overwhelming moment in theater he had ever experienced. Listening to him describe it always gave me chills.
Oh, I'm sure. I get chills thinking about the movie version...the OBC on stage must have been...breathtaking.
I do love the movie SOM, but I like the original cast recording better.
And Middi, by the time SP was filmed, Martin was far too old for it - and on screen would have looked it. I've always wondered how different the movie would have been with Doris Day as Nellie. She reportedly wanted the role desperately and was crushed when she didn't get it.

What he always talked about was how very invested the audience had become with Maria by that point, and it was almost like they were actually getting to share in her special moment for real.
oh, i know deet. and i still love the movie. but yeah. i hate when they replace people.
Moony should've played Nellie in the screen version...she was about the right age.
I was moving some old files this morning and pulled something in my hand. Owie.
Back to SP, SOM, MM, JA discussion.

I still love that movie, and that wedding scene.

YWIW - my mother saw that tour, and said it was one of the better things she had ever seen - she LOVED FloHen in the role!
Hi, YWIW!
Good morning, West Coast!
i'm so upset that i'm not near nyc at the moment. south pacific is one of my all time fav musicals... and it's finally back and now i'm not there.

Middy - they ARE going to tour. As with PIAZZA, though, I think the impact will diminish by restaging to fit proscenium stages. Not to mention not having the leads. Or the 30-member orchestra.
Forget I mentioned anything.

I know what you mean, DG.
*sigh* I miss Piazza.
I hear Cheno will replace O'Hara, Middie.
Middi, it's going to run quite a while - NY isn't that far from FLA. Ask Shamey!
