My sister's been to Melbourne, and she LOVED it! She went to Brisbane and Melbourne on a business trip with my brother-in-law. She thought they were both just wonderful places.

Research, or you could give a lecture, or something like that, yes, that would work. But to find someone to sponsor you to go on a trip like that (or any trip) just because you want to go, well, you might as well be Austin.

I have never had anyone pay for me to do anything. I got scholarships and loans for college and grad school and have worked my whole life. I've bought 3 houses and traveled and bought cars and paid taxes and blah, blah, blah. I have never been dependent on anyone, well, not since I was 18, anyway. Being able to support and take care of yourself is the key to independence, happiness, sound mental health, good relationships and true love.

Any time I have known someone who "couldn't leave" their spouse for "financial" reasons, they have been miserable and unstable. They had bad relationships with everyone and they also hated themselves for living a lie.

You NEVER know what's going to happen. A couple in our neighborhood got divorced and moved away. Their house has been on the market for about 2 years. Turns out the husband had a serious drinking problem. He just died last month (and a relatively young guy, too. In his 50s.) Well, when he died, his ex-wife discovered that he had a secret second mortgage on the house, so instead of being able to sell it, take her half and get on with her life, she is now facing foreclosure and debt she cannot manage. So the only bit of "security" she had is gone. That's just ONE story among thousands and thousands.

YOU MUST BE SELF-SUFFICIENT!

I'm pretty self sufficient right now, but I am also more than willing to find someone to take care of me. I'll never stop bringing in what I am and growing my career....but a little bit more plushness along the way is never a bad thing.

Harris is such a sweetheart! He started his new job today and he's getting well-initiated to the DC area: he's already gotten himself majorly lost! (SO easy to do around here.)

He said as soon as he has the chance to "connect," he will. He sounds very happy.

YAY! GO, HARRIS!!!!
