DGG, marriage must've broken up. He is dating Patti.

What time is it? And what day is it?
It is time for you to return to the left coast!
Nuh uh! He's ours right now!

Thanks, Girly.
There are plenty of pictures of them smooching on her facebook. I was surprised. He's cute, though.

Please excuse and/or ignore the following brief rant:
What on EARTH possesses people to just decide that the trash they are holding should be disposed of wherever they are – be it out their car window, into a parking lot or wherever?!? I simply can NOT wrap my head around it! I mean, they have to look at all this detritus floating around, as well – don’t they MIND?!?
Then I wonder what their houses look like.
I’ve ALWAYS had a problem with this, but ever since seeing WALL-E, it’s been on a ‘front burner’. It was REALLY interesting to sit in a full theatre watching that flick – the premise of which is the fact that humans made Earth inhabitable because of the amount of trash they created – and then watch everyone get up and just leave the remains of their buckets/sodas/candy/whatever for someone else to deal with.
And when and where did THAT tradition start?!?
But, that’s a different rant, for a different day.
We now return you to the escapist thread as intended.
Some people are pigs, DG. That's my reasoning.

But Shira, pigs are actually very sanitary animals - among the highest, actually. The whole 'mud thing' is simply to give them a way to release excess body heat, which they have no other way of doing.
Right now, associating human behavior with any kind of animal existence seems a bit of an insult to the animal
DG - I felt embarrassed after the Pride festival at the Seattle Center when people just left all their used plates and glasses on the lawns where they had been sitting, with garbage cans merely steps away.
I don't quite understand it either DG.
I will carry something for blocks looking for a garbage can, yet I see people throwing crap outside of the cars.
Those who smoke and flick their ashes out the window also drive me nuts, because that ash may just hit the car behind you.
I wonder how some of these people were raised.

Honestly, I just don't get it. And not to put too fine a point on it, but if it exists in a place like Seattle - which has a higher percentage of 'ecology consciousness' than most places - then there is a disconnect that has reached 'disaster' proportions.
I don't get it at all. And yes ... very surprising to see it happen even in Seattle. And for some reason, as a gay person, I took it personally that during Gay pride we had left such a mess. I guess I was hoping for more awareness from my community.

I just chuckled!

I LIVE to entertain you, Shira - you know that, don't you?
*sigh*
I've been in a weird head-space all day, and it seems to be coming together in a 'perfect storm' kind of way this evening. I should probably AVOID the board, but I seem drawn to it like a fly to fly-paper.

Damn, and I am not drinking. I may just have to "deviate" and have a glass of wine tonight.

YWIW - I 'deviated' two scotches ago.
Did I mention the weird head-space?
DG, I am now SURE of it. You're sending over a court jester soon, yes?
*sigh*
I want to take a last minute trip to visit a friend in Canada, but nooooo gas prices are CRUEL.

Shira - some of us are still in SoCal - do you REALLY want to talk about gas prices?!?
Then you know more so what I'm complaining about!
I am thinking of buying a scooter for errands around town. Any suggestions?

YWIW - a friend of mine in Arizona actually just purchased the Yamaha/Suzuki/Honda version (can't remember which) of the Vespa. But I can't tell you if she likes it or not, because it's new.
A dealer could help, I'm sure, depending on your constitution. I happen to think you could hold your own
Something like this...
I would not take it to work, but to stops within a few miles of my home. Downtown Culver City, which has many restaurants, theaters, TJ's and the like is less than two miles away. Target, Pavillions, Ralphs and the like also less than two miles away.
It might be nice to have something other than a care or bicycle...
