*further note to self: find Shamey a RECORD PLAYER on which to play said LP*
We have one, Moony - she can listen to it next time she's over.
If SOMMS has stolen it too.
BB, as if you could ever hit me!
LOL! What is this "LP" of which you speak?
"Yes, records. Remember?"

*sending hugs to dg and deet ... and a quick pounce to moony*
How is everyone today? TDK was sold out, so we saw Mamma Mia! instead. Loved it! Can't wait to see it again.

Pounce right back atcha, DD!
I'll have to wait until August to see MM, but I hear it's worth the wait.
*despite the heat and humidity, hugs DD right back!*
Even Pierce's singing works within the context of the movie.
DD, I absolutely agree!
I love it more and more as I think about it.
The scene 'Slipping Through My Fingers' made me cry, it was so touching and beautiful.
I bought the CD last night. Have had such fun listening to it. (And I listen to my Broadway cast recording all the time!)
SO ... did they write two new songs for the movie? I pride myself in knowing their discography, and there were two I did not recognize.

I first heard "Slipping Through My Fingers" the spring that my daughter was graduating from high school. With her upcoming departure for college, it pull on more than a few heartstrings and I ended up crying through most of the song.
Which embarassed my daughter no end, so it was totally worth it.
Ok ... those two songs are from "The Visitors" which I'm not familiar with - "Super Trouper" was the last ABBA album I had. (yeah, one of those LP things.)
So now, looking at the play list, it doesn't look like there was a song written for the movie - but I'd heard there was.
DD, I believe there was only one new song for the movie (don't want to give away 'spoilers', but the wedding banquet song...).
There is a different version of "Thank You For The Music", which is an absolute favorite of mine. My niece and I sing it together - she calls it 'our song'.
Moony, I have loved that song for years... I played it for my sister when I first heard it, and we both just cried. I'm working on a special video for when my niece graduates from high school, and plan to use it as a soundtrack... *tears up*
I was a sniffly mess during that scene in the movie.

I stopped sniffling the day she graduated from college and took up permenant (so far) residence in my basement. Sometimes I want to say, "Hey, weren't you supposed to slip through my fingers? What are you doing back here?"
The joy I will not experience: embarrassing my children to no end. I'll have to make do with my nephews and nieces.
And Shira.
DD, the same for me...
(although spoiling and loving my niece and nephew and many Godchildren is a JOY!!!)
Moony, love your sentimental side!
