My boss just excused everyone from work due to th storms. Power is out in Santa Monica so he wants us all to give ourselves a few hours to get home. My lover works 20 minutes from here; So I am just going to go hang out in the office and chat with you all. We carpooled today. Any other Los Angeles people here be careful out there!
Storms that bad Dame?? Be careful....
I can't tell just how bad it is because I am in a office building. It looks bad but the freeways look like they are moving.
DAME- I'm stuck out here in the horrible weather too. Do you think there's any chance that it will stop in the near future?
Bobby- A flood warning just popped up on the computers weather bug for Culver City of all places. I hope my room doesn't flood...
Cute;
They say it will be like this till Monday. Now you know LA weathermen; always scaring us and then nothing. But I think this time they are right. Plan for indoor activities.
Oh God Beaver, don't say that!
Looks like I'll need mini sand bags for my windowsill since the maintence in my building will probably take 6 months to fix the windows and until then I have to stop my carpet from getting soaked. (It would probably be a good idea to stop my cords from getting wet since I don't have a death wish.)

Hello fellow LA people. We are getting clovered this weekend. It is nasty out there. How is the weather in the rest of the country? Where is everyone else from?
hehe....its funny how CA goes nuts when it rains...Az was the same way....
It's been raining SO much though. I'm done. 2 or 3 days, that I can handle. And granted it's been on and off, but still! I'm stuck inside all weekend with nothing to do. Except of course write my term paper, but that doesn't count!
Edit: Good grief do I sound whiney. My apologizes. I blame the weather.

The thing in LA with the rain is that since we dont get harsh weather the rest of the year; our roads are a bit slicker. ALot of really bad accidents happen and the traffic paralyses the town. So on a day like today ( and with Friday rush hours); it is all about getting to your home and indoors safely. What is normally a 30 minute drive to somewhere could take you 5 hours.
Doesn't help that most people can't drive all that well here too. I'm so happy I don't have to drive through BH today. LA would be pulling her hair out, I'm sure of it. Makes me glad I don't drive just yet...

Bobby - when I first moved here - and that was even from Arizona, mind you - I thought I would die laughing the first time it rained and I saw the reaction of the morning newscasters. And then I went out in it - OH MY GOD! Besides the fact that people make NO concession for the weather and drive like idiots, everything either floods or washes down a hillside. It really does have a tremendous impact - but in all honesty, it STILL makes me laugh - it's just RAIN!
ANYWAY, I'm just staying indoors and watching my potted plants outside drown. I'm about to have to go out and put them all under the gazeebo.

And it is also freezing here. Something that our homes are not as well equiped for as in the east.
Dgrant,
It still makes me laugh too. I moved here from San Juan.(via NY)
It was so cold in the rest of my apartment this morning my cat kept running into my room (god bless portable heaters--man's greatest invention!). Annoying but funny since he deemed it appropriate to try and steal my Egg McMuffin.
Hasn't it been reported that LA has already surpassed its rainfall totals from all of last year in the past few days?
Probably. It really wouldn't surprise me.
In Seattle we were supposed to get pounded, but we're mostly seeing some rain. It's snowing up north from here. The thing is we're getting some very cold air (for Seattle). But other than that, typical overcast rainy weather.

Cookie - I heard the same thing. But you know, that song had it right - it never rains in southern California. When I first came here, I didn't see a drop for 18 MONTHS!
After all this it better bloody be another 18 months...
Dgrant;
How far is your drive to the theater tomorrow?
which makes it a matter of days before we get all of this in the east unless diverted by one of the major currents...

Dame - we have to get from the Ontario area to Beverly Hills by 11am, and then to the Taper by 2:30. I think we'll leave about 8:30 in the morning My hope is that everyone else will stay inside, and we can just zip around unhindered!
