Here's whqat I put on the Main board:

We got to see the production at the Ahmanson this evening. The musical itself always kind of underwhelmed me - it just seemed to have too many of the problems that Twain had with the novel. And the music, while seemingly appropriate for the piece, never really grabbed me - even though I'm a big sucker for a spiritual or an ingratiating melody line.

HOWEVER, what we saw this evening doesn't have anything to do with that. The subtext created by having this theatre company present it in sign language takes this to a completely different level. Not exactly making a silk purse out of a sows ear, but definitely rising FAR above the source material.

A production full of passion, verve and amazing direction.

It's supposed to dip below zero here tonight oh and get this. This morning I went to have my smoke and as I stepped out the back door at work a big wind kicked up and dumped a giant hunk of snow onto my head from the roof of my store. That was sooo much fun.

Beav, I was supposed to go upstate to visit my godson and family, who I haven't seen since Thanksgiving, this weekend, but now I'm not because I'm afraid I wouldn't get back! Not that being stranded in a lovely house with my loving chosen family wouldn't be preferable to being stuck in my apt., but my job is here. And you know how jobs are.

Bea is pretty awesome. I've been fortunate enough to work with her twice. She scared me off a bit at first, but then she gave me a glimpse of her heart of gold.
