Addy, he knows, he's the one who gave it specifically to her.
The problem here (and my agency is well aware of this) is that this place is full of heterosexual males. My coworker is a hot girl. It doesn't matter that she's married and has a daughter, or that everyone from my boss down is pretty much married with children, they all want her. And it's gotten old. Really old.
And I need to go.
So, basically, the people who need to know (my agency) know what's going on. Other than that, I can't do anything right for my boss, but then, he doesn't want me to put out for him.
Isn't it fun! This is why I loved working in an office full of women.
I'm sorry, Bway!
That doesn't sound like a supportive work environment. I hope your agency is able to find another place for you that is easier for you to succeed in.
In the meantime... focus on your show and the things that are going well for you!
Hehe, I am. It was just a pain yesterday because the boss was snooping around. He's generally NEVER over here unless my coworker is here.
True, honest-to-goodness rehearsals start, for me, tomorrow. I'm very excited. Once we get underway, I'll be rehearsing a few nights a week. IT's going to be rough doing so much but it's a fast process so it should just fly by.
As for a new job...I'm definitely hoping one comes along. This job should have either made an offer or ended the assignment by now.
Well, bway, I'm sure as soon as rehearsals start in earnest you'll be able to put the office craziness out of your head. It will be nice to have something to look forward to AFTER work!
Finland, Finland, Finland...
Good morning all.
*Fish Slap*
This is too true. It's just another example, for me, of trying to deal with something until it's too far out of hand. And now I'm over it! I had this weird daydream on the subway this morning where I was working from home doing something like proofreading. And apparently making a lot of money at it.
Now, where's THAT kind of job?
Talk to one of your Pals.
My Pals? I hope I'm getting the reference correct...
A lady never speaks publically of anyone unless they have permission... So I must remain enigmatic.
So, I've been doing some family archiving work, because my grandparents were just awarded a place in the Buffalo TV & Radio Hall of Fame. I've been charged with arranging the bios and photos for the ceremony. I just found a couple of fun pictures that I thought I'd share. Though they are no longer with us, I believe it give some insight into my slightly askew personality. The apple falling, and whatnot.
What FUN pictures. And what a great project! Congratulations on the exciting news for the family, ck!
CK - those are priceless! A showbiz family, ah, what fun! Were you by any chance born in a trunk in the Princess Theater in Pocatella Idaho?
My grandfather was truly a vaudeville trouper, and at one time was an MC at Radio City Music Hall.
He wrote a book, and passed away before it was sent to a publisher. I found the manuscript the other day. It was titled... "Don't Send Your Laundry Out Until After the Matinee: Laughs and Gaffs On the Road to Oblivion" It is a delightful autobiography about his life in vaudeville and early radio/TV at that time.
There they are (on the left), with Cesar Romero. My mom is in the picture too, sort of... Grandma was somewhere in her early second trimester. Note how societal concepts have changed (or perhaps the drink was a prop?)
Great pics, CK! Thanks for posting them.
Proofreading will enable you to work at home, Bway, but it will NOT make you a lot of money. Temping pays much better, is steady and sometimes includes health insurance. Proofreading is strictly 1099 freelance work.
That said, if you want to do it, you have to learn the proofreading symbols, which are in every dictionary under proofreading. But they're used differently in books, magazines and newpapers and in legal and medical proofreading.
Back to CK's vaudeville and early-television roots! More pics!
I know, Pal. I was actually starting to learn legal blacklining from a paralegal once because, apparently, that IS good money, but it fell through...and it's one of those Sally Struthers conundrums: to get the job, you need the experience but you can't get the experience without the job.
I'm sticking with the temping for now. It's at least low pressure (as long as my boss steers clear).
:)
Thanks for the kind words, all.
Sometimes I just want to share something with a group of people who I know will appreciate it, at least a little. I always think of here first.
ck, the pictures are wonderful! And what an interesting family history! (beacon would love this!)
Bway... teaching?

Addy's correct! (As per usual.)
CKeaton...do you have the names of some of the vaudevillians they knew/worked with. I have a friend whose mother was placed with relatives because her parents were on the cirucuit. She was born here in Buffalo and is having trouble tracing info about her grandparents. We can PM if you think you might have something.

CK - have you thought of shopping your grandfather's book around to various publishers? It would probably need editing and such, but it would be an interesting look back in time.
By the way - I think you look a bit like your grandfather.
Hi All !!! I'm back from vacation..I missed all of you. Trying to catch up on reading some threads, but keep getting interrupted with work..jeez.
Bluemoon, that's a wonderful idea!
Boobs - I'm so glad you're back! I've missed you...
