Ellie. It needs to be read for it to be understood. Let's just say you and your lovely bitch face would have had a field day last night. Seriously, it's funny. Please read.

(You don't have a life. Acknowledge it. Who are we to judge?)

You've got albino skin and drink 8 litres of coca cola a day too, right? (I kid you not, one of the featured people on the documentary was like that! He didn't leave his room for MONTHS at a time.)

OK, I'm past the bit where OBOG and you guys are having a bit of a barney, and I'm now on the vomitting discussion...does it get better?

Ellie, did you not come online at all yesterday? My, uh, barney...(WTF?) with OBOG was two days ago! Yes it gets better. Raggy Q Poo makes a crackwhore verbal diarrhea appearance to make Stacey717 and Delphie (the best crackwhore) proud.

And Nina, woman, I keep telling you to tell me your problems with IB and I'm more than happy to help! (I actually was supposed to do a speech at my old high school's IB Info Night tonight and turned it down. "Too busy.")

Hello, kids. That last page I read made just about no sense at all, so I'll just wander in here and wait until I've sufficiently merged with the insanity and can pick up the threads of the conversation.

I will say that I also have no life, though. And I don't actually mind it. My choices aren't too great, so I'll take my hermitism. (that's a new word)

It's okay Som. I don't get the last few pages either. And I think I may have been there for part of it, and perhaps the catalyst for some of that discussion.

See, my prof asked everyone what we thought about the documentary, and people had such negative things to say about an online life, ie. "no physical activity", "isolationism", "inability to adapt to the real world", "alientation to family and friends," etc. So I raised my hand and said, "Well, if people can find more happiness and satisfaction by interacting with online friends over real friends, who are we to tell them not to? Is it really so harmful?" And no one had a reponse.

See, the Brits say it! And they, like, invented English!

Who's Raggy Q Poo? And is Staci a crackwhore now too? Do we still find her annoying?

And your response has some merit. You people TALK so much more than anyone I 'know' offline. They're so... dull. I never get answers longer than five words, and honestly, this board has kept me sane. I need chatter and I need it to be sharp and creative and thoughtful, all of which can be found amongst our eclectic little group. We're also from all over the country and age spectrum, so you get a lot of diffences going on that make things interesting.

insomniak, thank you. I thought it had merit too, but I didn't want to get too into it during lecture, and have people think I frequent message boards all day and rely on my online friends. Because, you know, I don't.

Eww, high school? Hell no! Then again, if I had you guys through high school, it would have went much more smoothly.

In the documentary, they showed a reunion of all these online friends who bonded over some video game (called..."Counter Strike" or something?) and I was like, "Whoa, that would be cool and frightening all at the same time."

Tiff, if you want to help me, find some nailpolish remover that actually still has acetone in it...

I'm building a stupid bridge for physics, and that stuff dries in 2 seconds, literally. you're holding the bridge, it sneaks up on you, and you don't even know its on you until you feel a burning sensation on your fingers. and then it's too late, you have to rip your hand off the bridge. There's more DNA on that bridge than there is wood.

Well here's the official site. (You need Macromedia Flash -- which I don't have --- to view it.)

It really got me thinking to how misunderstood the online world is to objective viewers. I think everyone has some form of technology that they can't live without.

http://www.nfb.ca/almostreal/

Here's the plot description:

Almost Real: Connecting in a Wired World
Documentary
Almost Real: Connecting in a Wired World focuses on six people who've pushed internet relations to the extreme. From a cyber punk on an anti-aircraft rig in the middle of the English Channel and a former monk who believes in online communion, to a disillusioned eight-year-old boy who schools himself on the internet, and an American woman who finds the perfect "marriage" with a husband she never meets. Almost Real follows the stories of these solitary individuals as they reveal to us their lives and their identities, real and virtual.

See, there's more than one side to this online life thing. I think you can go overboard and be too trusting (it's easier to decieve in type) or think that you'll fall in love (it's hard to tell when you can't see a facial expression), but I think we might be alright. It's not quite the same here.

And congrats on your 8000th post, Tiff! No lives - again, pah!

that documentary is interesting and i think i'm heading more and more towards it although i read a lot more than i post. but i dont think there's anything wrong with it when it's not taking to such an extreme as possibly was in the movie. it helps to know that there are people in the same situation or with the same interests when you can't find those people in your school. it's healthy to look for people you have things in common with and whose company you enjoy- virtual or real. you might not really know their identity but they're still people. in a way, the computer makes people more accesable because age and other stuff is less of a barrier and all kinds of people can talk.

i hope that made some sense and wasn't just babbling.

Hey guys- Just wanted to thank you for my entertainment of your stupid foolish comments about me although it’s hard to come here and read since I’ve found 2 other places that accept me and enjoy my presence. And it’s also a Broadway site and Ave Q. You guys obviously are vicious people, who have no sense of understanding, nor of wanting to help people. I wasn’t even complaining on the posts I wrote, I was trying to help people and then was trying to give magical some ideas for his/her project. But, whatever….as I said; I’ve found a place with people who are appreciative.
As for the 3 main people here, I hope you soon get a sense of how to be nice and accepting of other people- (even those who have different writing styles). And I do find it hysterical that you all are still talking about it pages later. Go do something to help the community instead of sit here and make fun of me, who was trying to be friendly, helpful, and understanding in which none of you seem to want. The wizard must have forgotten to give you a heart….it’s a sad thing but I think you can choose to get one.

And don’t think I’m a little nothing who is trying to be big and fit in. I’ve had my share of problems....*and I don’t know need you all to start listing what u think they are, although I know it’s probably going to be done* I’m 20, going to college, I have a learning disability, and my major special education (sign language)….probably a lot further than you people without a heart will ever get.

NOTE: For those of you who weren't there last night to see my posts, this post will probably will look rude, nasty, and cruel. But actually, that was my point of posting it. *Sorry for this post to those who had nothing to do with this*

And sorry for not being so “CONCISE” since that happens to be some people’s favorite word since I came.

People like you are the reason I'm on medication.

First of all, the Wizard of Oz/Wicked references are silly and inane.

Second of all, no one was mean to you after your initial post. In fact, I did nothing wrong by saying I was "still reading your post" yet you got defensive anyway. Frankly, it was huge and verbose. You seemed to jump onto this thread without reading any of the posts first and knowing the context and tone with which we speak to each other. If you consider THAT mean spirited, you should see how we've been to people we REALLY don't like AND the people we like. If we're all "haters" just because we don't like that you write as if you get paid a quarter per word, then you've got some other issues aside from a learning disability. (And I know people with learning disabilities, and it's an insult for you to pull that card right now.)

Instead, you could simply say, "Okay, I'll try to cut down all of my useless nonsense and instead try to get my points across more concisely." instead of bitching and moaning. Especially to musicalmjk, who was trying to help you. No one's discounting what you say. But your points get lost in all the nonsense that pads it.

But good thing that you found two other boards that accept you. Don't let the Angst door hit your ass on the way out.

Oh, and PS. b_s_t and I are close to your age and exceed your level of education without feeling the need to advertise it to win brownie points or get uppity on anyone else.

And second PS.--You are most certainly a newbie if you think "the main 3" you referred to are the only major players on here. You just got lucky that everyone on the east coast logged out earlier or you would have definitely received a more mean-spirited flogging.

There's no point.

Anyway, the whole online-friends thing... there are different degrees of it. I sometimes wonder how far we've taken this.
