York is apparently the best acting program around, but some feel that it limits you because it is SUCH a specialized program.
UMT and Sheridan is fantastic! You come out of there with an BA (Honors if you like) and a Conservatory Diploma. It's got both the specialized conservatory side to it, plus the hardcore academic side. However, it's difficult to get into (you need an 88% average, plus an awesome audition)
I've heard that Windsor has a real up-and-coming program, getting better every year, but it really lacks the reputation of the others.
They're all fantastic programs, and I think if those are your three top choices, go to whichever city you want to live in for four years. I'm a firm believer in considering both the program and the school/city equally when choosing which school to go to.
I have two friends who just got into UTM and Sheridan, and they told me it's looking great but a bitch to get into. I've got a friend who's been at York for two years and says he loves the program but hates the school, I also know people in the Windsor program who say that the quality of the program differs from course to course, but it's a fun program. Unfortunatly, they hate Windsor.
Plus, you'd have to live in Windsor. I haven't heard good things about U of Windsor in general, but apparently the acting program is fantastic. Who would have guessed?
I have my eye set on sheridans musical theater program but a really new up and comming one is St.Lawrence for musical theater...and then theres allways randolph..they have a great rep and feed into mirvish.
