Canadian ignorance vs. American stupidity - Reality or myth?

I just found out that Ohio isn't a booney state in the southern region of the U.S. Apparently it consists of more than tumbleweeds and cornfields. But I still don't know if it has a hockey team.

Insomniak still doesn't know where Vancouver is, but she has just learned that Canada is not a grey, barren land mass. It would be, if not for the snow and ice and igloos sprinkled on the top. And electricity is created through the static accumulated in my body when i shuffle my feet in my socks.

Are we anomalies, or are all Canadians and Americans this stupid about the other country?

*shakes head*

Tiff, what will I do with you?

We do have a hockey team, and a good one. (At least here in the MOST IMPORTANT CITY that you forgot about)

But yes, everyone thinks the world revolves around their home state/country/area. And they are all wrong. Except for Ohioans.

it's not limited to country versus country. we're all similar enough where no one feels the need to really learn anything unique about their neighboring states or country. i know very little aboout Canada, but I know even less about most states in the U.S. I couldn't tell you where Vermont or Idaho is, or find Quebec on a map. I CAN tell you everything there is to know about Chinatown NY or can give 10 different ways to get from San Francisco to Santa Cruz. basically, anomalies-no. egocentric- certainly.

Don't americans, like Insomniak, know "i" before "e" except for "apartheid"? (Or is that just familiar in the southern states?) re: Canadian ignorance vs. American stupidity - Reality or myth?

it's supposed to be i before e, except after c. but it's not consistent at all. examples: weight, beige, heir, heinous, neighbor

sausage cheese fries! i'm sorry, i've actually got tears rolling down my face right now with laughter.

to reinforce the freaky canadian stereotype, i've actually eaten moose "pot hash" before, which comprises of moose brains, intestines and bowels, and it's grounded and compacted and has the consistency and texture of luncheon tuna in a can. (fit with fibres. from where, i don't know.) it's a grayish brown color.

but that was in newfoundland, and they're like the alcoholic bumpkin uncle you never really talk about.

IN MY DEFENSE, I thought MICHIGAN was part of OHIO, and that's not totally off the mark, because they're connected right? One and the same to me, folks, one and the same.

And again, Som, WHERE IS VANCOUVER?
Gimme a general direction. I'll be satisfied.
