Has anyone ever attended the 18+ program?
I was looking at it and I think that if I get accepted, i'll be attending it. I would just like to know some more about it.
I did! And I am just going to post a message I sent to other people on this board but, it's the most INCREDIBLE summer program!!!
I did the CAP MT Professional Program 2004,2005 and 2006. They were the most amazing summers of my entire life... We started with Dance class in the mornings (monday, wed, fri is usually ballet and jazz.. tues / thurs are tap). The dance classes are a lot of fun and you are put in the classes FOR DANCE ONLY by level. The first day at cap is placement auditions where you do a dance audition (combo is taught) they split you up into groups by how many years of dance you have taken. The tap portion is optional.. if you haven't tapped they automatically place you in tap 1. Then you are given a time to Do your monologue audition / sing a full song (or some rooms make you do 2 16 bar cuts of an uptempo & ballad of your choice). And that is how they place you into sections for the 6 weeks. It is usually in sections of 14-16 people at most. During the day you have Music Theory (usually every Monday and I won't lie.. I hate this class maybe because I suck at it)..but, Krysta Rodregez from In The Heights was in my class =D Um, Audition Tech (2 times a week) which is the most amazing class ever.. basically you are taught how to work the room, how to present your music properly, you have mock auditions , You have theme week (60s songs , broadway , pop / rock) .. You have your acting class 2 times a week which is fun .. you do scene work (usually 2 scenes the entire summer) .. um , Vocal Tech which is a smaller section of 8 people where you do technical stuff and practice songs putting the tech stuff to work .. (2 times a week) , Vocal Performance which is acting the song (2 times a week).. you are usually assigned a song in this class.. You also have Musical Scene Study which is SO SO SO much fun.. it's 2 times a week and you well do scenes from musicals and go into the song.. then you have business of theater where every week there is a different topic on the business. It's VERY helpful. That is your Wednesday class. It sounds over whelming but, it's really an incredible summer. And you definately get a lot of individual attention everyday. I wish I could go back this summer.. The people are SO amazingly wonderful. I have made life long friends.. it's the most supportive environment ever. The age ranges are usually from 18-37.. I am 22 and was amongst the babies in my section the last summer I went. The teachers are all working professionals and they are the most caring people on the planet. Everyone there rocks. There is nothing to be nervous about. I hope you go and have a fantastic time!!!!
