This is obscure-anyone else a fan of a series of c.d's released over ten years ago now with covers by cartoonist Robert Risko of all the great capitol recording artists from the '40's through to the '60's? Titles like "Capitol sings Cole Porter", "Capitol sings Broadway" etc? I love 'em.

No, these are c.d.'s only put together in the mid '90's and they are compilations of all the artists who were under contract to capitol- the likes of Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Bobby Darin, June Christy, Keely Smith and many others, and they compiled the c.d.'s first under composer-i.e. Jerome Kern, Harry Warren, Cole Porter, so you get these fantastic singers singing repetiore just by the one composer, then they brought out various themes, such as "Capitol sings Broadway", "Capitol sings Hollywood", "Capitol sings the best Movie songs" which is a compilation of songs which have all won oscars. There is 20 c.d.'s in the series and they are all fantastic.

Well, I got most of mine in Australia, so I don't see why they shouldn't be- the stylish Risko covers are the way to pick them out. Do a search on amazon to see what they look like.

That's the one! And the Jerome Kern cover looks like a pink egg with glasses.
I love my Capitol Sings George Gershwin

"Capitol sings Gershwin" is one of the best! You get Liza singing "I'll build a stairway to Paradise"! and Peggy Lee singing "They can't take that away from me".
