This is a sad milestone:
Only seal species to vanish due to human impacts
"Humans left the Caribbean monk seal population unsustainable after overhunting them," Kyle Baker, a biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Service, said in a statement. "Unfortunately, this led to their demise and labels the species as the only seal to go extinct from human causes."

Posted: 6/6/08 at 6:21pmI dunno. I know people think seals are cute and all, but I don't think they're cute. I think they are kinda scary. It probably goes back to that day when I was five when my family went to the beach and Carribean Monk Seals killed my dad.
