The Mets game just ended and Mets Fans, let's pray our invaluable gem of a ballplayer, Carlos Beltran is okay after making that amazing catch!
He saved the game and Billy Wagner's ass! Let's hope that knee is okay. He's the best!
Mets won over Astros - 4 -2

Why are we paying $ 11 million a year to Wagner to make every save an adventure?

Aren't we lucky ( not ) we have Mr W for 3 more years ?
The mind boggles. Hopefully, Beltran will just be out a few days .It was a good sign he walked off . Great catch but if Wagner was doing his job it would not be necessary. I can imagine how Wagner will implode in the playoffs

Posted: 9/3/06 at 12:36pmThe Mets are paying Wagner what they are simply because there's such a shortage of closers and has been for years now. Better a closer with some history who makes most saves "interesting" as opposed to no closer at all.

Despair not as it happens all the time. The main reason beltran would not go with the Stros was they would not give him a no trade clause. For a player with a family, I can understand the need of not wanting to be uprooted after a few years

Exactly. I've never understood any of the "traitor" talk in baseball - if you were offered more money to play in another place, wouldn't you choose to play there? Complain about the rules of MLB, not the individual player.

Yahoo reports Beltran says he is much better & ready to play, The Mets have to be breathing a sign of relief - that is until they have to use Wagner again
