Has anyone here ever been seated in the first few rows (Parquet) of Carnegie Hall?
I am looking at tickets to an event there I found seats in the Prime Parqueut which is the very center of what would be considered the ochestra section. I assume that begins at about the 7th row from the stage.
I also found tickets in the second row (center) which is just called the Parquet.
The tickets in the second row are $20 cheaper than those in the Prime Parquet. Does anyone know or have a theory why they would be cheaper?
I assume that accoustically the Prime Parquet is best but if I sit in the second row will I have a trouble hearing?
I've lived in NYC for 8 years and have never been to Carnegie Hall so I don't know what to expect.

In the second row it becomes a matter of feet. The people on stage will be footless at best and lower thigh-less-on-down at worst. You are lower than the stage looking slightly up.
Acoustically the second row is fine, but if you don't have to see the event, and rather just hear it, look at the second tier boxes in the center. Great acoustics at less dollars. Just don't go out beyond the curve when those boxes become side boxes.
Avoid the Dress Circle. It is mostly under the balcony and the sound has trouble getting in there.
The lower (front) balcony has good acoustics but you are up, up and away. It does give a good bang for your buck however.
Thanks for the advice. It's Sandi Patty's holiday concert with the New York Pops. I don't really need to see her feet.

Why does that make me laugh?!
I think it's a funny thought that her feet might be a must-see.
