Posted: 8/21/05 at 10:46pmYes, I'm quite sure they do. Even if you don't WANT to take the SATs...I really recommend you do. When you apply to a college within the university, you have to either be accepted into the university and/or pass an academic screening. CMU, I'm sure, is one of those colleges (along with UM, NYU...). And even if you're applying to other colleges than BFA colleges, it'll help IMMENSELY because almost all college applications require SAT/ACT scores ANYWAY.

considering the competitive nature of the schools you're looking at (CCM, CM, etc.) you MUST take the SATs.
especially cargegie mellon - it's really quite competitive academically (it's has a very well-respected computer science program).
born2c - you're going to have to take the SATs. just sign up and do it. sorry to be so blunt, but i know for a fact that carnegie mellon requires them...and before you ask, so do NYU, Syracuse, Ithaca, and virtually any other college you'll apply to. Take the SATs, you'll probably have to take SAT IIs, and you might even have to take ACTs as well. there's really no way around it.

Posted: 8/22/05 at 9:05amThe reason I wasn't sure if CM and CCM required was because I didn't realize that an acadmic program was also part of the school where as BoCo, Hartford Conservatory, The Royal Academy of music and a few others do not require SATS.

"CMU, I'm sure, is one of those colleges (along with UM, NYU...)."
CMU's academic reviews are very different than those of UM and NYU. At UM, you must pass an academic review before they will grant you an audition slot. At NYU, the audition and acadmeic review are supposedly each weighted 50%. Neither of these are true at CMU. At CMU, the audition/interview is 90% and the academic review is 10%. Basically, if the School of Drama wants you, and you have no major questionable issues on your transcript, you'll get in. HOWEVER, you still must take the SATs as the application to the university requires it.
