Brief threadjack: These headlines remind me of a piece Henry Alford did in the Times about various disorders that were going to be included in the new DSM-IV:

"Conflating Disorder. A disturbance especially prevalent among individuals who, waking to their clock radio and hearing broadcasts as they lapse in and out of wakefulness, subconsciously meld news stories. Subjects subsequently find themselves rushing into public settings eager to discuss how the Defense Department banned gay marchers from smoking in the Boston St. Patrick's Day parade, or how President Clinton tapped the venerable Washington insider Lloyd Cutler to replace Patti LuPone in the Broadway version of 'Sunset Boulevard.'"
