re: re: re: re: re: re: : catholic people amuse me

That's aweful Master re: re: re: re: re: re: : catholic people amuse me

I'll tell you a story that happened to me my Senior year of Highschool. Now mind you I was 17/18 years old, and this is how this Nun would treat me:
I was taking a religion class (we were aloud to pick the class, but it had to be a religion class), so I took a prayer class because some of my friends who were Juniors at the time were allowed to take it as well. There were only about 4 Seniors in the class, and then about 15+ Juniors. Anyway, This Nun used to pick on the Seniors like you could not imagine. I don't know if she felt like we were stupid because we were taking a class with Juniors, or whatever her motive may have been. Maybe she was jealous that we were about to graduate and have careers that she never had.
I finally refused to take her verbal abuse anymore and I stood up in the class and told her what I thought of her. Of course I got into trouble...I didn't care. She used to tell me that my grades were horrible and that I should be doing better because these underclassman look up to me. I said, "What the hell are you talking about? These people are not beneath me; they're my friends and equals. I don't know what kind of hierarchy life you lead, but people don't need to be told their stupid because of grades they receive in a crappy religion class."
For the record, I maintained a 90% average in her class...but apparently that wasn't good enough.

So this woman, who is supposed to be an undertanding and prayerful person, and who was supposed to be teaching me about a religious way of life was turning around and being the biggest SOB you could imagine. Talk about Hipocracy!

In this day and age, one does not find many nuns teaching in Catholic schools. I went to a catholic school from K-8 and several of my teachers weren't even Catholic. I have met quite a few nuns in my lifetime and all of them have been kind. There is a nun who comes to some of our things at the Newman Center (Place for Catholic students at college) she is hilarious and has spent most of her life caring for foster children. Sadly she hasn't been able to come so far this semester, I believe she's on chemo right now. It's sad and I've been praying for her. I always say don't judge a whole group by a few bad ones. If you have ever seen the movie Evelyn you would understand what I mean. That movie tends to be a heck of a lot funnier for Catholics though.:) It's still a good movie even if you aren't Catholic.

I'm not saying all Nuns are bad at all. I know some very good women and men who are members of the Church in that respect. But that Nun was a piece of _____.
Anway, she was just one of my examples of how a "Christian" person would tell us how to live by the ten commandements and love each other, and they would go to Church all the time, and then turn right around and go against what they had just preached.

I'm off on a tangent, but Master's kodak moment and prolonged belief that the nuns would have to eat his vomit reminded me of my misconception as a child:

When I was little, the only person I knew who seemed to have access to gum (mmmmm....Beeman's or Black Jack...) was my Uncle Howard. I asked him where he got it, and he told me that you can find gum under the seats in movie theaters and underneath church pews. I clearly remember looking for nicely wrapped sticks when I was at church...and never finding any, go figure. Played for a fool by Uncle H at the tender age of 4 or 5.

Hooray for Catholics! a perfect religion where no one beleives all of it at one time (i run away screaming from those who do) and hypocrits seem to breed like rabbits. i won't even start with my problems with the Catholic church, but omg i love that priest. did you know that the Vatican is considering cutting off the american church because of its liberal views on homosexuality? the amercan church states that its not a sin, unless you actually have sex (thereby condemning all gay men to priesthood. hmm.... marketing ploy?). but the Vatican clearly states that to have any attraction to men at all is a blatent corporal sin. of course they do! are they not the ones who originated the slang Faggot? breif history of the word:

during the time of The INquisition, protestants, jews, witches and homosexuals were prosecuted and promptly burned. church officials found that nothing sparked a good witch burning like a flaming homosexual appetizer before the event (excuse my horrific humor. see what satire does to me?). there seemed to be so many homosexuals (we're everywhere!) that mass burnings became popular. then came that ultimate decision: "Why don't we put the witch on a stake above the ground, and use the homosexuals for kindling?" brilliant idea. the brittish term for a bundle of sticks used for kindling (now a bundle of tobacco used for cancer-inducing) is Faggot. hence-forth, homosexuals were termed Faggots. so everytime someone says that word in a derogatory fashion, the word not only carries the force of pure hatred, but the burning and torturing of homosexuals by the inquisition. maybe some of you will stop and think about that next time it just "slips out" from habit. Thankyou catholic church for the wonderful life you've given me! I am obviously your most loyal and pious member!

some of us don't exactly have a choice, love. the trick is finding something that you enjoy doing while you're there. I, for instince, sing in the choir, because music is the most spiritual thing in my life. if i had to sit with the rabble, i'd shoot myself. after confession of course.

um... dunno what world you're living in, but Greek Orthodox has evolved so much from the catholic church, its hard to tell what the similarities once were. then again, i know almost nothing about that religion (next on my agenda) so i'm probably just putting my foot in my mouth. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: : catholic people amuse me

Right on! its a never ending debate, and has even caused a few wars, so we're not gonna solve the issue on a message board. but its so fun to discusss! and i learn so much about everyone else's beliefs, making it all worthwhile. if we don't discuss, how will we learn, and thereby come to accept?

I guess it's pretty clear Catholic people amuse all of us. And Kudos ChoirBoy for your historical input! I always love ending a stressful day going through "I Know Things Now".

Our principal is a nun and for our Homecoming Skit (our theme was the Wizard of Oz) we made her Glinda the Good Witch "I love you all unconditionally!"
Fellow Ozians. Friends. We've been through a frightening time and there will be other times and other things that frighten us. So if you'll let me, I'd like to try to help, I'd like to try to be . . . Glinda the Good.

My guess is InnocentChoirBoy THOUGHT he was logging on as a different screen name, but wasn't able to do so. My guess is that InnocentChoirBoy has been on here before under other guises. My other guess is InnocentChoirBoy will be flagged by the software, tagged by the moderators, and gallop off into the sunset never to be heard from again.

so i'm a little behind. i kept reading posts i liked replying to. you all just can't tell what i'm talking about cause the subject contains re:'s out the ass. my guess is than namo is a bit out of it. my guess is that namo was the one under different guises, and is secretly plotting to take over BWW by subterfuge and seduction. my guess is that choir boy has innocent in his name for obvious reasons. my guess is that innocentchoirboy is just that, but wouldn't mind some sex on the side if someone (excluding namo) were up to it.

I must've missed the other thread where is was pointed out. I saw that film years ago! A rather bizarre evening including Street of Crocodiles, banned Looney Tunes cartoons, and 3-D Viewmaster-style photos of my friends' adventures at The Burning Man.

Have you seen Safe? I've been wanting to see this film and I don't know anyone else who has seen it. If so, did you enjoy it?

Actually, Master recognized it in a PM! I hated Safe when I first saw it, it brought out a real sense of frustration and rage toward the lead character in me. Thinking more about it years later, I thought maybe that was the point? I bet I'd like it more nowadays.
