Ok So I really don't like the show at all, but my Uni is doing it in the fall, and being a theatre major I plan to audition. We are "required" to use an Andrew Lloyd Webber song not from the show, and I'm mainly looking for something up tempo in the idea of Rumpleteazer. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
Thanks a million,

I don't know how high you can belt, but Rainbow High could work too.

I would recommend Rainbow High too, but don't sing it unless you can belt all of the high notes.
I will be auditioning for Cats this coming school year as well and, although it won't be for a while...song suggestions? Doubt I'll get in as a Freshman But... heck! why not? And if I do get cast, Friggin Sweet for me! I'll pretty much be auditioning in hopes of getting... ANY parts at all. My range is well... Most anything but the low bass.
Gettin a head start here.

If you're a guy and you don't go to a performing arts school, I can't imagine you not getting in. Anyway, Che's material from Evita would work, as would stuff from Sunset Boulevard.
Just my luck...

Sorry. I still wouldn't worry, as I went to a PA school and didn't have a problem (the only show I didn't get into was West Side Story, because I can't dance). Basically anything by ALW that's not overdone would be fine. Maybe even Disney.

I've done Cats. Rumpleteazer is more of the middle area but not a big belt. Don't sing a ballad. A portion of the Narrator for Joseph might work. I like Buenos Aires but that might be done, but if you can sell it, sell it. "Love Changes Everything" can be sung up tempo. Pick a song that you're comfortable with. Rumpleteazer's dance is more important. She has to be a very strong dancer, athletic, and able to partner.

...People want to do CATS?
okay, that aside, most Webber shows have the same voice types when it comes to thingsl ike belting, voice parts and so on, usually if you look for any Webber song in your range it'll probably fit the voice part the character sings in CATS.
