Celeste Holm Appreciation Thread

Celeste Holm Appreciation Thread

A veteran Broadway performer in such shows as Oklahoma, Bloomer Girl, The King and I, Anna Christie, Mame, etc

Some of my fave movies of hers are All About Eve, High Society, The Tender Trap, Come to the Stable, The Snake Pit, Gentleman's Agreemant, Cinderella, and Tom Sawyer.

I've always thought that Virginia Madsen kind of looked like her.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

I love her !!! I was excited when she spoke at my sister's college graduation..of course most of graduates didn't even know who she was..or did they seem to care.

She brought all her grace to the off-the-radar Brendan Fraser film STILL BREATHING - and she played the tuba!

She is always a lady, and an etheral one at that.

Does anyone have any pictures of her in Oklahoma?

She's a right bitch, according to me mum! I like her in a couple of the films I've seen, though.

re: Celeste Holm Appreciation Thread

and let us not forget that she played Danielle Brisbois' Character's grandmother in Archie's Place (wasn't that the name of the sequel to All in The Family?)
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

OMG..CM2's icon isn't of himself....unless he's doing Julie Andrews in his drag show now.

I just saw her last week at IN THE WINGS (the awful new comedy at the Promenade). She looks exactly the same -- beautiful. Does she age?

She was knighted by King Olav of Norway. Rose would be proud!

And I just read that Lesley Anne Warren played Cinderella. I never connected those dots.. and this little gay boy loved his Cinderella. Um...

The things IMDb has to offer.

re: Celeste Holm Appreciation Thread

An old room mate of mine went to the movies one afternoon. When she got back I asked her how it was. She said it was okay, but this old lady behind her was talking through the whole thing and rustling her candy wrappers endlessly. Turns out it was Celeste! You would think someone from that golden era of Hollywood would have a little more respect.
PEACE.
