I have the Capezio Manhattan character shoes, and I do not find them very comfortable. Any suggestions for others I should try? I also need to buy tap shoes in the style of character shoes; I have the tap oxfords right now. Should I get the Laduca's or wait until I'm out of school to get those? I just want something comfortable.

In terms of regular character shoes, SoDanca is incredibly comfortable and easy to dance in.

I chose, and my world was shaken. So what? The choice may have been mistaken. The choosing was not.

I'm currently in love with Angelo Luzios. Very comfortable and easy to break in & mould to your feet.

Unless you're a trained dancer and have developed your arches and ankles enough, I would not suggest getting Laducas. In that case I would suggest Pommen&Shalpe or as someone else above said Sodanca. Capezio has some great new styles, you could try those too.
If you do have enough strength get the laducas they're amazing!

I have 2 pairs of SoDanca character shoes + one pair of character taps, and I am in love with them. They break in very quickly, and are still amazingly comfortable while you're breaking them in.

I got those Capezio ones because they're required for Stagedoor.
All I can say is....wear bandaids.

I'm holding off on getting a pair of LaDuca's until I graduate. A wore a pair my friend had during a show we did together a few months ago, They are so amazing and wear like a dream. I'm waiting to get them because a) they're so expensive and b) it's something to look forward to...."hooray I have my degree now bring on the LaDuca's!" haha. Right now I have two pairs of SoDanca and they are very comfortable.

Dance shoes can be classified as pretty much any type of shoe that is made specifically for dancing; ballet flats, jazz shoes, character shoes, pointe shoes, pedinis, etc. Character shoes however, are a specific type of dancing shoe. A character shoe is a heeled dance shoe that can double as a heeled tap shoe if one wishes to attatch taps. Character shoes are similar to ballroom shoes; however, they are generally more durable and much sturdier.

btw... I live in my Leo's. They are somewhat uncomfortable until you break them in, but I think they are great afterwards, and they last for quite a while.

ah okay. i thought "character shoe" meant something having to do with acting and, since i'm not a dancer, i shall not worry about it.

Just to let you guys know that LaDuca is coming out with a student line of shoes that are just the same but don't cost as much. The line will be called the Prima Line and should come out with in with next few months. Mr. LaDuca wanted to do the line for dancers/actors who one day wish to be on broadway, so they can have the same shoes as those who have already made it. Hope that helps and gives you guys some info.

^ I just read your message about LVA, so I know you live in Vegas... the Capezio store on Rampart and Charleston will have what you need. (I also happen to work there.... shameless plug)

The former lilprima2b... I can't figure out how to get my password emailed to me, so here we go.
