I've been cast as Bonnie in Anything Goes at my school and for the audtion I sort of just copied the girl's voice on my cd- very Kristin Chenoweth. It was ok for the audition but it's really hard to consistently put on for lines- it's much easier for the singing but i'm having trouble getting my sound so bright and sort of nasal when i'm talking. Also, I don't reallly know how to say this but it's distorting how I would usually speak my lines (obviously) but not in a good way....everything is really akward. Maybe it's because I'm thinking too much about the voice but it's just really getting on my nerves. Any suggestions?

try to come up with your own voice for the character instead of copying it off the cd. that way it'll use your natural resonances and voice mechanisms instead of you try to emulate those of recording-Bonnie.
i know what you mean about how it gets annoying -- i played Sally Brown in Snoopy and by the end of the run, i never wanted to speak that way ever ever again..... sadly my friend kept asking me to do the coat hanger sculpture monologue for them.....oy.
