A wonderful speech in an underrated classic. I did this speech in Speech and Debate in college (a LONG time ago) and it is wonderful and, as you say, timeless.
I just LOVE Chaplin! He said it with raw emotion and I have always wondered how much was scripted and how much did he make up on the spot. Not only a great speech but a great movie as well.
I am off to the Stanford theater (Palo Alto, CA) Wednesday to see a screening of his other hidden gem, City Lights. Very exciting to be able to see this on the big screen.
