Any in the city that anyone would recommend?
I'm addicted to shopping, and it'd be great to not spend a ton of money every time I go out and buy something... but on still good and nice stuff.

Posted: 10/3/04 at 10:13amI've gone to those a bunch of times. Are there any funky boutiques in the city that aren't too expensive?

Hollister has gone downhill for me since they stopped making all the pretty shirts with the sequins. Plus they run really REALLY small. I'm usually a medium/small everywhere else and there I'm a large.

If you're in the city, check out Century 21. It's huge and chaotic, but it's amazing if you love to shop.

Posted: 10/3/04 at 1:14pmIf you walk along 7th Ave. in the 30s you'll find a bunch of little clothing stores that have cute clothes for dirt cheap. I'm not promising the material is top notch, but it will satisfy your spending urges. Little stores like Steps, and Kara's, etc... you just have to look. There are a lot of stores that also have sample sales which ROCK! You can get a designer shirt for $5 and that's some HOT business.

Posted: 10/3/04 at 1:52pmha! It's so funny that you mention Woodbury Common; I live right around there. It's actually not all that cheap. I suppose in comparison to buying the same stuff down in the city, it's better, but it's really not that great.

I have a love for Strawberry.
There's one on 49th and 6th.
And one in the Empire State Building complex. Its pretty similar to an H&M...just not as annoyingly crowded.

Thanks so much! I'm gonna check out a bunch of these stores. I've actually seen a bunch of Strawberry shops, but haven't gone in. And I had heard about Century 21... where exactly is it? I DEFINITELY wanna go there. I'm very much into vintage stuff btw, if anyone has any other cheap buys- locations.
Thanks!

The Century 21 I have seen in right across from Ground Zero.
I was only in there once... but I really loved a hat they had--sadly, it was too expensive for me.

There is a Century 21 across from the WTC site, and there's also one in Brooklyn... I'm not 100% sure where, though.
Canal jeans used to be on Canal Street in the village, but I think it's in Brooklyn now. I went when it was in Manhattan and loved it, but haven't been since.

Posted: 10/3/04 at 11:36pmthere was a Canal Jeans in SOHO near Yellow Rat Bastard, but it's gone now. I love Century 21 and Daffy's. I got this beautiful cashmere winter coat at Daffy's for around 1/4 its original price.

Posted: 10/4/04 at 11:33amI hate H&M. Sure, the clothes are trendy and cheap, but they use horrible fabrics and the quality is awful. Especially the sweaters. TJ Maxx and Marshalls are more reliable. In Chicago, we also have Filene's Basement which is similar to TJ Maxx, but they usually have better deals.
