Cheap shipping services to the UK? (Paypal/Ebay problem)
Cheap shipping services to the UK? (Paypal/Ebay problem)#1
Posted: 1/10/07 at 4:25pmI bought $45 worth of CD's on Ebay, paid through Paypal, from someone in England, and they are all counterfeit! The seller won't respond to any messages. Paypal says they don't care that they are counterfeit, and they will only get me my money back if I send the CD's back to the seller through a tracking service so I can prove that the package was sent and was received. I have to pay for the shipping myself. Unfortunately, the cheapest tracking through FedEx as far as I can tell is about $50, which does me no good! (The cheapest service they offer is still 2nd day air, which is why it's so expensive to send stuff overseas.) Does anyone know of any cheaper method (or have any other ideas)? Thanks.

Ha, well.
When I lived there for the semester (this time last year) my mom sent me some stuff in late Jan. It cost her $30 to send a box that to anywhere in the states would have cost about $7.
The best part...it arrived in June. I left the country in May...it's still there.
p.s. I'm no help, I'm sorry...but I wish you good luck!

They don't care it's counterfeit? Oddsfish.
I say keep them. Is it just burned music with printed-out covers?
As wrong as it is, I think your only option is to leave them negative feedback and REPORT THEM TO EBAY. PayPal is about your money. EBAY is about getting the seller to stop selling illegal merchandise.

I get stuff from England all ther time, and it's about two weeks....but, shipping isn't cheap.
What did EBAY say, have you complained to them?

Thanks you guys for your messages! The CD's are burned music with printed out covers. They are part of a series I've been collecting, so I'd rather have the actual CD's. I haven't listened to the CD's to see how good the music is.
I was surprised that the Paypal people are so casual about the whole thing. They claim they have this great buyer protection but they don't. I made the mistake of falling for their requests to not use my credit card and to get a direct debit from my bank account, because otherwise I would have gone to the credit card company and probably gotten my money back that way. I was surprised that the Paypal people insisted I send the CD's back rather than destroy them here -- I pointed out that they are basically ordering me to send illegal goods through the mail, and they basically said, "We don't care."
I reported the seller to Ebay for fraud, but I don't know how much difference it will make. Ebay said that they will not tell me what action (if any) they end up taking, "for privacy reasons."
