Check your smoke detectors!

There was a tragic fire in Chicago in which six children lost their lives. I knew that I had one defective smoke detector, so I was at the hardware store yesterday and replaced it! I also replaced another old detector!

And change the batteries when you change your clocks for DST.
This was a tragic fire that could have been less so if the smoke detectors had worked.
Five children from one family and another that was staying with them died while their mother of the five watched.

there were two appartment fires in my area this past weekend. people also need to be careful for fires around the holidays. every thanksgiving and christmas, without fail, there is a call beacuse someone knocked over a candle, or tried to deep-fry a turkey, or didn't keep a close watch on their fireplace or threw something in it and started a housefire.
